B&B Chateau de Villersexel

This was our second visit here, the first having been six years ago. The chateau is lovely but still requires a lot of work to restore it fully to its previous grandeur. Many original period fixtures and fittings mixed in with some rather incongruous modern items. Very spacious bedroom and bathroom, extremely quiet and peaceful. Very good breakfast served in one of main reception rooms - you can pre-order what you would like. Pleasant staff. Our only complaint was the coffee - in such a place it should be freshly made and served to you at the table (this was the case on our last visit). Instead we had only a small self-service machine using pods which you had to insert yourself - hardly the "chateau" experience!

Ho dormito in tanti castelli perché mi piace l 'a**osfera. Grandi o piccoli, antichi (a Collioure dove soggiorno' Lucrezia Borgia) o più recenti come Villersexell. Di fine '800 ma in stile Luigi XIII il Castelo è imponente, come le sale visitabili, ma buio e freddo. La nostra camera dagli alti soffitti, colpisce per il camino e la specchiera di sicuro effetto visivo. Il resto pecca d' ingenuità (o cattivo gusto) come i tappetini in sintetico rosa ai piedi del letto. Il bagno (helas) è nuovo per l epoca del palazzo ma alquanto vecchio per oggi. I lunghi corridoi pieni di opere orientali non armonizzano col il resto dell 'arredo che spesso risulta gache'. La colazione (pagata a parte cosa strana per un lit et petit dejuner) è ottima. L'accoglienza è molto professionale e discreta. Peccato che i ristoranti del posto fossero chiusi o al completo. La dieta non ci spaventa come pure i fantasmi che infestano i castelli.

Château authentique à l'ambiance feutrée. La bienveillance et l'attention de son propriétaire, joints au calme des lieux ont font un lieu inspirant. Une vraie pose et pause dans le temps. La table du petit déjeuner est fraîche, variée et abondante.
