Dearborn Inn, Autograph Collection

Wow this hotel is gorgeous! It’s nestled in beautiful gardens and gives off a peaceful feeling. Even though it’s so old, and rooms are a bit crammed, things are updated (like smart TV) and bed was comfortable. It was clean and AC working well. The lobby was amazing - again, historic. My main disappointment was the front desk staff - I was coming and going several times a day and hardly ever were they looking up, they always seemed engaged in serious discussions with each other or looking down at the desk, and more than once on more than one days I said hi or tried to catch their attention to ask a question and no one responded. But the bellhop guys were friendly and helpful. Also had dinner with friends from the bar (restaurant is closed) and it wasn’t good, everything was greasy or dry and didn’t taste too good. Overall, if you’re visiting Dearborn it’s worth it to stay in this special hotel.

Our final destination was Livonia but we wanted to spend the morning at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. We visited in a shoulder season perhaps, early December on a Sunday night. The Hotel was decorated for the season with traditional and tasteful decorations and a grand tree. The Hotel was not busy. In the Bar\Lounge we had a great meal (Rib Steak, Caesar Salad, Wings and Cheesecake. Certainly not a challenge for the kitchen but none the less it was very good and served as ordered promptly. Sitting at the bar, we had excellent service from the separate bartender and food waitress. As well, we were served during our meal by the Hostess . The kitchen open until 9:30. Perfect for our 6:30 arrival. Last call was a bit of a fuzzy 11pm but as there were only four other guests, I get it. But in no means were we rushed. In fact we were encouraged to stay and finish our cocktails after 11pm and the staff had all left. Comfortable lounge seating in a very relaxed period style Bar Lounge with multiple appropriately sized sports screens with no volume. The Bar staff were engaged with the history of the hotel. They advised us that when the dining room opens for Buffet Breakfast, to ask for Henry’s favourite spot. We did and the Buffet was fresh and lots of standard hotel offerings for a serve yourself unattended buffet. Emma, our waitress did a professional and keen presentation of Henry Fords preferred table location. The large windows in the dining room face what used to be the Ford Airport but now face the Ford Vehicle Research Center and the Dearborn Proving Grounds. The Bar\Lounge faces the rear grounds. The grounds are also easy to get to from the lobby. I mistakenly thought I left my new GoPro camera at the bar. The staff were excellent in assisting the search. I checked my App and could see someone was currently previewing videos. Turns out I put it back in the case where my travel buddy found it. The Heff Napa Valley Cab was very good. The room met expectations for a Marriott and was typically smaller for a historic hotels. It was more than adequate for the two double beds. Bathroom was larger than expected as was the closet. The Hotel provided the 1 mile trip for two of us in their Lincoln Corsair to the museum. They also provided the card\phone number to return which was seem less and quick. They also had a Luxury Transit Mini Bus standing by. The driver Austin was excellent and previously worked at the museum. The hotel is surrounded by semi clandestine Ford Centers. Quiet, safe and well lit area(s)and more than ample parking. We parked a Crew Cab pickup with a 28’ trailer under lights and visible from our 2nd floor window. We did not view much of the snow covered grounds or the cottages. They must be in the shade. Although the cottages are in the gallery I did not see on the Marriott/Dearborn Inn site where they could be rented. The Hotel appears to have small company meetings

NOTE: The "Inn" closing FEBRUARY 1, 2023 FOR 12 TO 14 MONTHS for renovations, according to Marriott. This info is not yet on the Inn's website as of today, JANUARY 31. Darn it. We wanted to stay here again in August. We hope they do "her" fine and bring back this historic, beautiful and unique Marriott property.

There is a lot to like about the the Dearborn Inn. This is a nice older hotel (built circa 1931) that has been expanded and is now owned/run by the Marriott Hotel chain. The exterior looks classic and the lobby is beautiful. If you are in Dearborn it would be hard to ask for a better location as it is about a minute to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but many others in the area. There is ample free parking around the building. Our room had a nice desk area with lots of plugs, including USB outlets. The TV was about a 37" flat panel with about 60 channels, plus the ability to access your own account through Netflix and some other providers. The room was quiet, which we would expect from an older building. The staff was nice and helpful on check-in. There were a few nits. First, our room was on the small side, as was the bathroom. The bathroom was modern and nicely done, but a bit tight (again, as a consequence of being an older hotel). Our king bed only had one nightstand - there was room for a second one but for some reason, they decided not to have one. Some of the furniture seemed to have had more use than I would have expected. This was an older hotel to be sure, but some of the pieces seemed like they could have used some TLC or possibly replacement. If you are seeing the Henry Ford and/or Greenfield, this is an excellent hotel. We also went to the Detroit Institute of Art and found it an easy 20-minute or so drive into downtown.

The grounds are spectacular, even though the flowers are past their peak. Although dated, it is well maintained and clean. And hey, shouldn't a historic hotel have some older furnishings? We thought it was very cool. The staff was wonderful too. The convenience to museums gave my family plenty to do while I worked. I'd go back, no question.

This hotel is very pretty, and the grounds are lovely. It is ideally situated for us since we toured the Ford Rouge Plant, the Ford Museum of Innovation, and Greenfield Village. All of the grounds around us were very attractive and clean. Our room was very nice, and we were in one of the outer buildings. It was very secure with a guest having to use a room key to access the building. The restaurant was not open during our 3-day stay, but we had excellent meals and service in the tavern in the main building.
