An excellent stay. My second time. I was welcomed back like royalty. The staff were very friendly; and went above and beyond to make our stay better. The restaurant and spa were also a welcome treat! Much appreciated.

They have a public kitchen where you can cook your own meal. People are friendly and courteous!

Gina at the front desk was absolutely wonderful, she was so friendly and happy, it just made us feel so welcome! Dinner was excellent and very very quick. We stayed in a private room which was a bit small, the worst part was the stomping that we heard consistently above us from 7pm through 1am. This was very frustrating as we are light sleepers. We did not get the rest we needed. I understand its a hostel but I am just unsure how there was so much constant activity until after midnight. Not sure we would stay again.

Exactly what we were looking for! Super clean, efficient, great food, happily surprised with a efficiency kitchen for guest to use! Will definitely need that!

The property has a great view of Eyjafjallajökull on a clear day and is within walking distance of the local grocery store: Krónan. Parking can be a challenge and is often full during the evening. I would recommend creating dedicated parking for guests who are spending the night there.

Great for family and it has a great kitchen

This location was our FAVORITE of the 4 different locations we stayed during our recent trip to Iceland. We were a family of 5 and I was nervous about the bunk arrangement but it was PERFECT! The bathroom facilities provided privacy as well. But the BEST part of the location was the STAFF who were amazing! They were so friendly and clearly enjoy working together. The atmosphere is relaxing - we spend the evening playing cards in the main room and had a blast. The food was FABULOUS and FRESH. We even spent time speaking with the Chef. I would stay here again without hesitation and would highly recommend to anyone.

It does look like a "camp" with lots of backpackers. The room conditions are basic but sufficient.

We stayed one night with our teenage son while touring the southern coast. It was great! The rooftop sauna and hot tub were a nice bonus, fun decor and very clean s quiet. I would have booked a hiking tour out of this hostel but didn’t consider it before we arrived.

Great place to stay! This is by far the nicest hostel I stayed in while in Iceland. The rooms are great- I love that they have privacy curtains on all the beds and huge lockers. The hot tub and sauna are a massive bonus, especially if you’re doing Fimmvorduhals and Landmannalaugar while you’re in the area. Showers and WCs are great, tons of them and roomy. Plus a small kitchen that gets the job done! Staff are also amazing, I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Midgard is a very welcoming place. The rooms are comfortable and the hot tub with a view of the mountains is spectacular. The restaurant serves up tasty meals. What’s not to like?
