I would not recommend this hotel at all. We had a horrible stay and spent most of our 48 hour period in the hotel dealing with malfunctioning equipment, smelly rooms, and inexperienced/rude staff. While brand new, with beautiful furnishing and finishes, the hotel is clearly not ready to be opened. The first suite we stayed in had a malfunction AC – which in 40 c degree weather and high humidity is certainly not something that someone can live with. Hotel staff – who barely respond to calls – said I should give a “couple of minutes to cool down”. Two hours later (at 2 AM), and after countless calls to the front desk who mislead us on what was going on, the duty manager finally admitted that that unit is faulty and asked us to change rooms. We did at 2:30 AM, having had to unpack and pack again. In the morning, we noticed that the second room we stayed apparently shared an air duct with the Chinese restaurant downstairs, or something. That entire floor reeked of kitchen smells. The duty manager admitted this and offered to change our room a second time the second day. Time to pack and unpack yet again. The third room we stayed in had a faulty curtain in the bathroom. Given that this is a lower floor, we were worried about privacy. We asked maintained to fix it at 6 PM. Upon our return at 11:20 PM we found that it was still not fixed. Multiple calls to the front desk had one person come up who clearly did not know how the thing worked. I asked that that I speak with a manager, and was told that he was busy. The poor maintenance guy finally admitted that hotel staff knew that this curtain was faulty. I tried to call the front desk again, but there was no answer from the operator, or guest relations. It was now 1:30 AM on the second and final night. I had lost it at that point and went down the front desk and saw the person that had previously answered my call (Saad) and I asked him if he was free why wouldn’t he answer my calls. He had no answer and proceeded to have me speak with the manager (Abdulaziz), who kept asking why did I come down and that the situation could have been handled in the room. Apparently, he was worried about me losing my cool in front of the other guests in the lobby who did not know what they had in store ahead of them. He offered to change my room a third time, and I just gave up at that point and went up to the room, turned off the lights and showered in the dark to have some privacy. Given that the bathroom window was open, light the morning shined into the bedroom, and we ended up waking up at 7 AM with only four hours of sleep. A true stay from hell. Cons: 1. Faulty AC 2. Faulty curtains 3. Rude/inexperienced staff 4. Smelly rooms 5. Unclean windows – reducing views 6. City/Sea view rooms are a joke (you have to stick your neck out the balcony to see some water). 7. Breakfast “manaish” station was broken for two days 8. Breakfast also did not have orange juice 9. Breakfast staff too busy to handle load Pros. 1
