Orchard Club - Newton House

Lovely hotel staff were very welcoming. Place lovely and clean and breakfast was tailored to my requirements. Highly recommend

Although on a main street it is easily missed especially at night time as there is lack of attractive signs. On site parking is very restricted although there is a public car park about 100 metres down the street. It is close to the village centre. Room was clean; size and decors are reasonable too.

The market town Knaresborough looked an ideal stopping point en route to London by car, just off the A1 and with stunning views from the castle which was a stronghold of medieval kings, across the River Nidd and viaduct. It's also near Mother Shipton's Cave, named after England's most famous Prophetess who lived some 500 years ago during the reign of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I. The cave is her legendary birthplace and near to a geological phenomenon, the Petrifying Well, England's oldest visitor attraction. Sadly, the weather closed in and driving down the rain-soaked A1, allied to an extensive delay because of traffic through Newcastle, meant it was closed when we got there. We had a walk but a chill wind forced us back to the Orchard Club Hotel situated near the centre of town. It's on the main road and easy to spot but finding the car park up a tight alleyway was a pain. We got there in the end. It is Grade II listed and was formerly the Newton House Hotel. Each room is named and styled with a particular fruit as its inspiration. Ours was comfortable if a tad old fashioned for our taste. It had everything you needed and we slept well despite our room overlooking a busy main road rear traffic lights. The breakfast choice was extensive and other guests were using it as a convenient location for touring to places like Fountains Abbey, the largest monastic ruins in the country, York and, of course, Mother Shipton's Cave.

Came here with my best mate for the weekend. On arrival we was greeted and shown to our room by the staff. She shown us around and made us feel welcome. The room we had was just lush, very clean and tidy, well stocked up with tea, coffee and milk. The bed was comfy. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely amazing. Great choice from full English to Eggs Benedict. All cooked fresh and was amazing. Will deffo book here again

Lovely weekend brake thank you ! Could not of asked for better location . Very clean and comfortable the extra little bits for example make up wipes , ear plugs , sleep masks were lovely. Teas and coffees well stocked with a good choice. We were made to feel very welcome staff were lovely particularly the lady who served us breakfast. Couldn’t have asked for better would recommend.

Great value for money. Breakfast was outstanding. Lovely friendly staff at breakfast and quality ingredients. Spotlessly clean. We stayed in room 7 which had its own bathroom but not attached to the room. We knew this at time of booking as we booked late so no complaints there. Will definitely return

The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. Everything I needed was provided including real coffee bags which was a treat. The host at breakfast was so friendly and personal. I had delicious porridge with raisins soaked in whisky ! The sitting room is very comfortable and attractive too. I felt very well looked after.

The quaint English Hotel a**osphere was delightful. The food was delicious , breakfast and evening meal.. The local area is so pretty too, with the amazing river Nid and its famous viaduct I would definitely go back

I enjoyed the time we spent at Newton House ! The bed was The best that I have ever slept in my entire holidays! Food very delicious, the staffs are very friendly and polite excellent service. I am coming back without any doubt. Many thanks to the team who served us !!
