Barcelo Lanzarote Active Resort

A very large resort a small supermarket but if not all inclusive would be a problem as to getting cabs to the local town could get expensive Night life for kids good but adults cannot even seat outside in the evening s with a drink as pool bar closes at 6 pm Unless you go to the payable restaurants and champs sports bar not very good if paid for all inclusive We was in block 7 but as there are still steps to the lift if getting on a bit would be a problem as me and my wife 70 and 65 years Overall as we had our son his wife and 3 small grandchildren but they 4 minutes walk away why we wasn’t put nearer each other one would never know but we did not book at the same time they were near the reception and dinning room but did have a few cockroaches in there room trying to use the microwave Overall good resort large pools

Pros- lovely room, lovely view (we booked sea view) every single staff member amazing, lovely food different every day, 25 min to walk in to town if you wanted something different. Cons - shower could have been a bit better kind of like dripped out but for me that was it. I’ve been on a few holidays and I have to say has been the only one where I’ve said I’d definitely come back. Absolutely love the place

Beds comfy. Rooms clean. Pools ice cold and food is just as cold. Didn’t have one hot or even warm meal. Too cold and windy for kids. Hotel nice, drinks nice. Gym good. Depends what you’re after. If it’s food and something for the kids I wouldn’t recommend

We returned from this hotel, after a week, yesterday. We hired a car at the airport and to be honest, if you’re staying here, you need one! There is nothing, close by apart from the hotel. The resort of Teguise is probably a forty minute walk but you can get a bus from outside the hotel. The room was lovely, recently renovated with loads of space, a large balcony too and we had paid for a sea view. We also had a fabulous view of the power station with smoke coming out of the chimneys …. not sure how healthy that is! The cleaning was hit and miss, you couldn’t walk barefoot on the floor because it definitely wasn’t cleaned properly. It was all a bit of a rush job, make the bed, change the towels , that’s it. We were half board and the food was the worst bit. Unless you got to the restaurant for 6.30 ish you ended up queuing for a table, not what you want on holiday. The food was worryingly cool and we avoided meat for safety reasons. Salad was very basic and the food in general wasn’t that great. Breakfast was better but stuff like bacon and sausages looked a bit grim, we had mainly dry stuff and fruit. Even the yogurt was in big bowls, uncovered with people breathing over it and dipping in… yum The island of Lanzarote has improved so much since our last visit, ten years ago , we drove all over and it’s so beautiful and unspoiled. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday but I think we will rent an apar**ent next time.

Booked & stayed for 9 nights in Late January, very pleased all round. Food was plentiful, plates were hot, selection was marvellous, nothing to complain about. Reception Staff were brilliant, cleaning Lady was full of personality, bar staff were good. Location was perfect one Euro to get into Town on the bus or four Euros in taxi and all were similar. Great walk along the promenade to Costa Teguise Town 50 metre pool was well worth the 3 Euro charge, lots of activity in the day, evening entertainment did show some great Artists, especially the 3 singers. All in All I cannot wait to return. 5++++++++++++++++

Stayed here for 4 days with friends. Checked in and first impressions were good, lovely lobby, easy check in etc. Then you realise that you get carted across the road where you step into a building that resembles a travel tavern. I can't say what it's like in the main hotel but you get the impression from the positive reviews of people that stay there that you are a second class citizen across the road. Room - First impression was room was fine...then came the sewage smell... over the first 24 hours it intensified...it was so bad that you had to put your hand over your mouth to stop you from throwing up. I went to the main hotel to ask to be moved - he said he would arrange it with the other reception, said to go back at noon...well, i went at 11am to be told "hotel full, maybe we move you tomorrow". Completely unacceptable. I had to double down on our situation and suddenly a room became available. We moved, no smell, great. Then in that room the air-conditioning unit was leaking and dribbling down the wall. this was day 2 of a 4 day trip...it had been such a battle to get moved in the first place we didn't bother to request another room so just shoved towels underneath the leak, which was constant, even without the aircon on. Even the cleaners didn't bother to move the sopping wet towels propped up the wall. Other things... If you find yourself travel tavern side the area is vast. This hotel is no good for people who may have mobility problems. Lifts only go to alternate floors, meaning you will need to either walk up a level or down a level to access your room. Pool - Cold AF. Sunbeds - Plentiful Cocktails and Pool Bar - the only saving grace. Restaurant - looks modern but not an overwhelming choice - random things that never go together and if it was all put on one table there isn't that much choice, it just looks more because they space it out so much. Additional restaurants are all chargeable! Entertainment - if you are in the main hotel or walk over there it's waaaayyyyyyy nicer and better quality of "entertainment". If you are in the travel tavern side, its a dark, underground corridor/walk through (they have to have the lights up full so you can see where you're walking) with sterile rows of chairs that resemble a doctors waiting room. Location - again, stinks of sewage with a massive plant next door. Not exactly picturesque, although there is a nice walk to be had if you turn the right way. This hotel is a 3 star, not a 4...you would at least expect not to have to pay extra to go to things such as al la carte restaurants. We was All inclusive and tried to book the Italian and told you can have it at a reduced rate. If you end up in the main block then you might be ok, but if not you will be left feeling like the poor relation. Better places to go for the money.

A second visit for me. I first visited this hotel over Xmas with a friend; I enjoyed it so much I booked to return on my birthday as a solo. The gym and classes are fabulous as I would expect from an “active” hotel. Rafael was my favourite instructor; full of energy, super friendly and always making sure your form was correct when carrying out each exercise. The pool was freezing at the start of my holiday but as the weather got hotter it was very much needed. I have seen a lot of comments about the cold pool, to be expected when it’s not mega hot 🥵. Rooms are spacious and clean. Beds and pillows are super comfy. Evening entertainment I can’t comment on as opted for early nights with my book. Food was good, not super hot, tricky when you’re dealing with a mass production buffet. They had microwaves if you wanted to heat your food up. In all a lovely hotel, something for everyone. Good value for money especially as a solo traveler. The only grumble I have is the green light on the air con wall control at night. It directly hits the mirror on the opposite wall which makes it even worse. I will remember to bring an eye mask next time I visit.

Was a lovely big room with separate sitting area. TV in the bedroom and living area. Food was lovely with lots of variety. Enjoyed the pump class in the very well equipped gym. The entertainment was okay in the evening but the entertainment and activities around the pool was so much fun. Alex and Richie especially were enthusiastic. We enjoyed pool trampolining, pool aerobics and pool spin. We also enjoyed the games like darts, spin ladder and archery. All in all a great holiday.

The hotel was lovely and we had an amazing stay here. It was clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pool areas were fantastic and relaxing. The gym had really good variety of equipment and was also really clean. The classes that were run were really good and well organised, but some of the classes are run in direct sunlight which can get very hot! The buffet breakfast and dinner are really good with good variety and fresh fruit. The dinner choice is not as good as the breakfast. The rooms were spacious and clean and comfortable. The evening entertainment was also really good. We will be rebooking to stay here as it was so wonderful!
