Castle Hotel & Apartments

Unsure of what to think after this visit. We have stayed here before but this time something doesn't sit right. Lots of offers for wines etc all overwritten with 'sold out'. Breakfast hot drinks orders taken and then we are seated to peruse the menu. 5 minutes later the girl comes to take the order but informs that due to a supply issue there are no eggs. The whole breakfast menu revolves around eggs, whether it be fried, poached, scrambled, omelette or benedict etc etc. We ate a revised version which was quite ok but on driving away noticed three places within 1/2 mile that were open and sold eggs? Why not tell people before you seat them, or better still pop up the road and get some? I can't quite put my finger on it but doesn't seem to be run the same as in recent years.

Felt like home from home! Lovely comfortable rooms, bed, super friendly staff and gorgeous location. Excellent brekkie too. I wanted to move in!!

We stayed for one night in the Tritton Suite on the top floor. The room was spacious, well designed and immaculately clean. We were greeted on arrival by the lovely Receptionist Charlotte; who was professional and welcoming. We had an excellent nights sleep in a luxurious room and had a superb breakfast, with a wide choice of quality produce. The waiting staff were attentive and polite., my only concern was the chef not wearing his chef whites in the kitchen which would have looked more professional. Great hotel, great staff, great location-we’ll definitely recommend it to others and look forward to returning in the future.

The Castle Hotel is very conveniently situated in uphill Lincoln, close to the cathedral and castle, shops and bars. Some of the staff are lovely, very helpful and go the extra mile to look after guests. We had booked a table in the restaurant for Saturday night but the chilly atmosphere and lack of appeal made us cancel and go elsewhere. The breakfast on Sunday morning was good, except the poached eggs were overdone, not even slightly runny. The bacon was underdone. The tomatoes were very good, as were the flat mushrooms. There were six at our table. We had to request drinks several times because, for example, the staff would bring coffee (as requested) but in a small teapot with enough for one cup. We ended up with several empty teapots which we had to clear onto an empty table, as we did with the breakfast plates. We had to get our own milk from the cereal table. Three slices of toast, cut into halves, were provided for six people and more had to be requested four times. We shared our individual marmalade jars with another guest because the jams and marmalades were not checked and topped up. Overall, breakfast staff were disappointing. In the evening, residents were made to feel very uncomfortable in the stark, unwelcoming bar. Drinks were refused at 11.00pm, despite residents sitting chatting in the bar, whilst staff ignored them, and locked up around them. Paying guests were clearly a nuisance to the evening staff who were not interested in looking after them in the slightest. I’d be very surprised if any of our group return to this hotel.

Wonderful hotel, friendly staff and very comfortable and stylish room. Lovely breakfast with lots of choice and good portion sizes. Cosy bar area and outdoor seating in the sunshine. Free parking on site. Will definitely return for another stay in the future.

A beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. Clean, well equipped room and extremely friendly staff. Amazing Eggs Benedict for breakfast, with fantastic service. Couldn’t have hoped for a better overnight stay. A great night’s sleep. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel, with great views of the Cathedral and the Castle. Very obliging and attentive local staff. Service was spot on. Parking on site is limited, but 24 hr pay car park within easy walking distance (£9.50 per day). Delicious breakfast.

We stayed at this hotel on Wednesday 3rd April 2024. We were on the second floor in the main hotel. Our experience at the hotel was unfortunately marred by a few significant noise issues. The very thin walls between the bedrooms allowed the sound from the adjacent room's TV to penetrate clearly into our room disrupting our peace when we were trying to sleep. Despite repeated attempts to contact the hotel night staff on the number given, our concerns were met with a disheartening lack of response, with the person on duty being asleep themself when they finally answered. Despite finally getting hold of her, she did not act on our call. Furthermore, the neighboring room played mindfulness music throughout the night (probably trying to drown out other noises in the hotel!), leaving us without any sleep. Despite reaching out again, the response was again inadequate by the sleeping staff member who did not act on the call, exacerbating our discomfort and dissatisfaction. The apparent indifference towards guest comfort, coupled with the lack of timely action due to the unresponsive night staff on duty, left a lasting negative impression on our stay. It's evident that there's a need for improved communication and follow-up procedures within the hotel to effectively address such disturbances and maintain the quality of guests' experiences. Regrettably, based on this experience, we won't be returning for future stays.

We stayed for 1 night April 2nd. We stayed in the junior suite on the 3rd floor. The room is spacious with a huge bathroom and is very tasteful decorated. Very comfortable bed. The bar area is very modern and the lady on reception was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a cooked to order and was excellent. Will definitely be returning.
