Sugar Cane Club Hotel & Spa

Very quiet and peaceful hotel who accepted the excesses of our large group without blinking an eyelid! Very lovely staff right from front desk to everyone in the restaurant. Shout out to my girl Kim, kudos to Gregory and Ricardo and a big thank you to Mitlene(hope I spelt that right). You all ensured our reunion was a blast! Yes, the hotel is off the beaten path and a distance from the airport (which is actually fantastic if you're looking for a bit of peace and quiet) but in terms of value for money, you couldn't get much better!

We have just returned from a lovely week at this hotel. Please do your research we booked it after a busy week on a cruise, as a week to chill it ticked every box. We were met on arrival and given a drink and cool towel, then shown to our lovely cool room. The complex is immaculate and enjoyed sat on our balcony watching the monkeys, hummingbirds. Food was amazing but it was the staff that made this hotel special mentions to Kim, Sheena and Tamesha and Rushidi who made the best cocktails…. And the fabulous Nikita…. What a lady the biggest smile and what a voice! The free trip on glass bottom boat to see turtles was great real highlight. If you are looking for a quiet hotel, they have singers 3 times a week, with great food, it’s easy to get out and about, shuttle will take you to beaches and also to local bus station… get on the reggae bus we did great fun!

The Sugar Cane Club is not for everyone, but if you desire an Adults Only ( 60+ mostly from Great Britain) All Inclusive - this is the place! After a 45 minute drive to the resort we were greeted with a cool drink & warm hand towel. Our ground level Garden View Suite was private, clean & the perfect location, We were surrounded by lush jungle & tropical flowers. Only sounds heard from our patio were cooing doves. We saw humming birds, tiny frogs & adorable geckos, & no bugs. The elusive green monkeys were fun to watch as they frolicked in the trees at dusk. The lovely pool was never crowded with plenty of shady spots to relax & Rashidi at the bar always greeted with a big smile. A limited barbecue was available for lunch but we chose to eat at the charming open air restaurant overlooking the pool. Breakfast was buffet style with lunch & dinner serving a 3 course a’la carte variety of Caribbean specialties which we enjoyed. As mentioned in previous reviews the service was slow & sometimes forgetful. Only tea & coffee were available all day with a variety of finger sandwiches & cookies put out at 4:00 tea time. There was a poolside barbecue one night and 2 special outdoor buffets all with local talented singers. Both Michelle & Karina at the desk were friendly & answered all my many questions. We took advantage of the complimentary glass bottom boat ride to see the turtles which was a lot of fun. (Be forewarned the Sugar Cane is a laid back resort with no loud music, organized activities or rude vacationers.) We plan on returning in the near future.

A lovely hotel, but with nothing round it to walk to and it isn’t near the beach. We were all inclusive, with all meals being of a high quality with a variety of choices. Cocktails were great. Rashidi certainly makes a great cocktail. The grounds of the hotel were immaculate and well cared for. There is a small pool area with limited umbrellas, but we always managed to get a sunbed. We had a great stay.

This hotel is very good You need to accept it is not on the beach, but there are plenty of good beach Clubs In Speighstown if you fancy a day on the beach, plus the hotel runs a bus to both the town and to Heywoods beach , which was stunning The beautiful hotel gardens more than make up for its location The wildlife including, frogs monkeys and beautiful bird's was a sheer delight I have never stayed anywhere where the gardens are so beautifully kept There are sunbeds on the lawns amongst the gardens, so you can just lie there and take in all the beautiful surroundings Food good, themed nights, plus both lunch and dinner are served ( not buffet ) which was lovely. Every lunch time there was a BBQ by the pool, with fresh fish, meat, salads if you did not want to go to restaurant for lunch Hotel was spotless Staff friendly and helpful The all inclusive option was worth it as it included cocktails My only slightly negative comment would be that the bar shuts early sometimes 10.30. There are also times when the beach bar was shut, main bar was not open so you could not get a drink, but this was only for a short time before one or the other opened I highly recommend this hotel and I intend to return

If you want complete relaxation and peacefulness (which we wanted), this is the place to go! Gardens are immaculate and the staff throughout the hotel could not have been nicer. I am always a bit concerned about vegetarian options, but this was not a problem, in fact the Head Chef came to see us when we checked in, to discuss what could/couldn't be eaten. Little touches like this really make this hotel so special. Overall an amazing holiday 😊

This is our 4th visit - returning to enjoy the relaxed environment in a wonderful garden setting The staff were in the main first class- demonstrating a real warmth and pride in their roles. Sadly the beach club was inoperable (for us) due to the fact that the sand has been eroded, whilst no fault can be apportioned to the hotel there was little or no reason to visit and drinks and food in the Club were not part of the inclusive package. The hotel needs to sharpen up, maintenance of basics such as lamps in the dining room and the Perspex cover in the breakfast room were simply ignored. The furnishings in the dining room need attention which are decidedly dated and not fit for purpose. The sun loungers are tired and the amount of umbrellas simply inadequate - these points are a quick fix if the management chose to action same. Reception staff Karine and Michelle were wonderful- the others, it was hit and miss often surly and unhelpful The boys in the gardening team were wonderful- they were so attentive and hard working - Leo is quite amazing Sugar Cane need to appreciate that there are credible options in Barbados which will erode the loyalty of regulars to this hotel. It’s sad to say that the staff who make this hotel run appear to be let down by poor support from the owners.

Super slow service. Waited 60 minutes to check in. Was treated poorly by the counter staff. Waited 2.5 hours and room still not ready. Took several trips to the front desk just to get checked in. It’s a long drive from Bridgetown and had to wait now for over 2.5 hours and no room.

Amazing 3 weeks at Sugar Cane Club. Food was superb and a good selection at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Amazing staff from all departments, it would be unfair to mention names as they were all great. Lovely gardens to walk through and the family of monkeys were regular visitors. We will be back next year.
