SPANISH BELOW. ESPAÑOL ABAJO. The only good things about this hostal are its WiFi connection, location, the historic architecture, and a couple of the receptionists (like Kenny, who wears glasses, or the new lady). You need to save your receipt from your deposit in order to have it returned to you. I would also recommend to take a picture of the receipt. The breakfast is a huge disappoin**ent. There are no chilaquiles, only a few selections of eggs, which take a very long time to arrive. Half of the time you will not get what you ordered, even though you waited a half hour or longer. The food might not be warm when it gets to you either. Despite the breakfast being free, because of those reasons, we actually went out for breakfast sometimes. There is no microwave or access to the kitchen, so if you have any leftovers, they will probably go to waste as it’s not possible to heat them. The hot water in the shower is usually non-existent. When it does come on, it may last for 1 minute and you won’t feel much of it in any case because the shower heads are so congested that the water sprays in every other direction except towards your body. There is no soundproofing whatsoever. We heard people puking all night, people playing their music at any hour. EVERYTHING (many unmentionable things). The sheets on the bed are not changed no matter how many times you may ask. They leave you to sleep on a dirty bed. Neither do the sheets actually fit the bed, so every night, you must attempt to readjust them or sleep on their dirty mattress cover. The laundry service mentioned on the website no longer exists. Our laundry sat for days before they told us, and we ended up having to buy additional clothes to have something to wear, and then carry our laundry several blocks away to have it done somewhere else. They allow guests to smoke directly outside of your bedroom and the smoke goes inside the room and cannot escape, and you are left to sit in the cigarette smoke for hours. The boy that is “working” there the majority of the time has no business working in hospitality, as he could not be less helpful or friendly if he tried. Anything you ask for will never come. He will only say whatever it takes to get you out of his face at the moment and when you do need him, like when a male guest tries to break into the bedroom (because a picture of him smoking was taken to show the staff—not that there’s any justifiable excuse for EVER breaking into a woman’s room), he will unbelievably take the side of the intruder. NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR WOMEN. Luckily the hostel has hired a new host. However, with a lack of concern or regulations/oversight, I would not say that this hostel is a safe place for any female to stay. They desperately need the rules posted and signed off upon at check-in, just like any other normal place. The front desk staff also will give the keys to anyone; if you get locked out of your room, they give the keys to everyone’s room because the chacho
