Situation of the “Chambre d’Hôtes Landes”, St Gor, is very quiet if, as a traveller, this is what you require. Nearest town for an evening meal is Roquefort. The lady of the house, kindly booked us a table at a café for our first evening meal. The garden is spacious and room to park your car. We arrived 50 minutes early, having driven for nearly 5 hours. Arrival should be between 17.00 – 19.00hrs. We were greeted by being told that we were early and that our room was not ready. No enquiry regarding the quality of our journey etc. Check out in the morning is 11.00 at the latest, so we assume the proprietor had had time to prepare the room by 16.10, when “unfortunately”, we arrived early. We were asked to remain in the garden and so we sat at a table under an umbrella. At about 16.30 (half an hour before we should have arrived) we were shown to our room – the “blue room”. Having travelled the world, we have not experienced such a greeting as this before – and although we had paid for it, we did consider leaving and finding somewhere else to stay. A very dark room whether the shutters are drawn or not with a kitchenette, separate toilet next to the kitchenette and shower room. The internet was very slow throughout our two night stay. Only one of our iPhone 11 was able to log in to the internet successfully. We were of the belief that the wi-fi may well have been switched off during the evenings / night time, but we cannot confirm this. It was certainly not a good connection. The room was cramped and underfoot was very grainy – dust / sand from outside evident on the floor. Quality of the bedding and towels was simply adequate. Pictures show grime around the shower room sink and cobwebs, grainy floor in other areas of the accommodation. Areas within the fridge needed cleaning. On our return on the afternoon of our “full day” there, we moved two sun loungers into the sun. This is the first time we have experienced being told to return their loungers to their original place (about 3 feet away!) after we had moved later to be nearer the pool. We did feel, as the guests, that we were being “reprimanded”. The “hot tub” although by the swimming pool, was not available to us. We have read reviews that state the breakfast was amazing – in our opinion and in comparison with other similar over night stays made by us in France, the breakfast was adequate but not amazing. There is a rather cute dog that wanders around the grounds, but if you have children or walking around the pool area barefoot, the dog mess that we needed to avoid (!) was not a positive experience. It states as a “room amenity” that there was “maid service” – our bedroom was not refreshed / tidied on the full day we were there. We were away from the property for near on 4 hours which would have given plenty of time for any maid service to be provided. We are not French speakers but reading another one of the reviews, there are some similarities between ours and the experience of
