Melia Llana Beach Resort & Spa

We were very enthousiastic about the riviera snackbar. The food was very good, and we were very happy with the waitress, her name is Elida Silva Bor. She realy made us feel very special and welcome ! You can realy see that she likes her job and wants to give the People a good feeding!

Beach room - looked a bit tired, bed fabulous, plenty of room. Bathroom- shower good but drainage poor. Staff - without exception, everyone polite and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Some uniforms looked tired. Company could provide new. Pools and bar areas- look tired. Tiling coming away from pool walls. Too close to other hotel. Lots of noise that echoed throughout. Music OK but too much Bob Marley. I shot the sherif should only been listened too at the very most twice. Animation team - fabulous. However imassuming that their budget for equipment and costumes is at the best poor. Food- very difficult. Large numbers. Different nationalities. Imported. It was OK. I would reccomend the BBQ evening. But not pasta evening. Shops & hairdressers good. Not great variety of goods though. Cleanliness- very good. Housekeeping do an excellent job for little wage. Restaurant staff - also fabulous. Beach and bikini beach bar - lovely. Bar dated and tired but banging tunes. All in all a good two week break, relaxing and vitamin d is in ubundance. I'm very sure that it's proberbly the staff that made this holiday great but the chain needs to think about making thus 4* fresh and exciting again. Beware of rouge taxi drivers. Always check your change and if in doubt, call the police. The threat often makes the taxi drivers fess up.

A honest review, a couple in our 30s and 40s. A much needed restful & peaceful holiday. Tui coach picked up at airport, about 20 minutes, we were second to be dropped off. Slow being greeted in reception, they want to sell you a vip package straight away and we felt that they dont want to talk to you if you dont purchase this. Its 50 euros pppn to gain excess to the Italian restaurant which tui sells as part of the package but it's a 30 euro surcharge and you have to book it when you arrive. We cancelled ours as we were happy with our included restaurant and didn't feel like we should pay any extra. The Asian restaurant is suppose to be very nice next door In the tui blue hotel which is like the mirror hotel of the melia. If you dont purchase VIP, you get one buffet style restaurant to go too as part of your package, 4 bars, you can also eat lunch in the buffet style restaurant or the bar next to the pool. You can get latte coffees and drinks from 8.30am inside the lobby bar which has a lovely atmosphere and live music In the evenings. We were very happy with the selection in the buffet restaurant and I have allergies. There was a language barrier as we only speak English, the first night but the next day after speaking to the rep it was communicated correctly that I needed to be told every day/night what I could have and the manager was very helpful. Deserts where limited for me but that was to be expected as I would struggle in the UK too. Sorbet, fruit and a few biscuits are dairy free and vegan. All the food is cooked, the restaurant is extremely clean, the waiting staff are friendly and do a great job, they are attentive and wait on you the whole time. You can also pick certain meats each night to be be cooked to order, eggs In the mornings. What you do need to remember is, this is a island with limited resources. There is plenty of fish to choose from, vegan and vegetarian options are limited but still one or two choices each day just repeative. The room we had was a ground floor terrace, we were facing the next hotel with a road between us. It was peaceful and cars hardly went down there. It has a small garden with bushes so you can't see the road. We had two chairs and a table on our patio. The room was large, air con isn't overly powerful and it can get stuffy In the room as your best to not have the door open as the mossies will come in ! Take a insect repellent and plug ! Fresh sheets and towels every day, the cleaners were amazing. Filled the mini bar with fresh bottled litre water every few days, if you needed more you just have to ask. Fizzy drinks and beer all included in the cost. Tea and coffee making facilities. Tv with sports and a few films. WiFi in the room is easy to join. You have another WiFi to join when your outside your room. The hotel surroundings where beautiful, everywhere is decorated to perfection, the gardens are done beautiful. Its very green! Second visit to this hotel having visited in 2023. We arrived late February staying 14 nights. Check in was quick, although our room was not ready when we arrived. We had emailed the hotel prior to arrival requesting a bed topper and expressing a wish to have a room facing into the hotel - however neither of these requests happened. I chased the topper before we went to dinner and by the time we returned later that evening it had been fitted, thank you. We were also left without bathroom towels one day, this took three requests at reception to be rectified, which was disappointing. The main restaurant provided a wide choice of food but we did notice the staff levels were much lower and therefore service for drinks was very slow. The pool bar was, as always very busy, again staff numbers were very low all the time we were there and on occasions long queues formed at the bar. To summaries - good points: clean hotel, varied buffet, good selection of drinks (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic) excellent hard working friendly staff Disappointing points: low staff numbers impacting on level of service provided. Overall we had a lovely winter break, but felt the hotel had lost a little of its shine from the previous year - albeit all staff are working very hard and long hours to try and provide guests with the best experience. Will we visit again…..maybe, but we would definitely look elsewhere first.

The staff members here are amazing! They were really helpful, kind and full of energy and laughs! Loved the whole entertainment team, especially Christiano and Amilcar!

Don’t take notice of individual rants on this hotel. The overwhelming view is positive. I am here at the moment and speaking to others they all say the same, friendly, smiling faces, clean rooms and all areas are continuously being tidied and scrubbed. The pool areas are great, the bars are great. The room we are in is modern and clean and everything works! Cleaned every day. The food in the main buffet is what it is.. a buffet which has most things you’d expect. It’s not the hotels best feature though but the other restaurants more than make up for it. (On the Level package) smiling faces and sunshine in a lovely setting.

This has got to be the worst experience staying at a hotel in years for us………. We booked a 5 star rated hotel & really tried to be positive. On arrival the electricity went off & when we went to shower the water went off. When I went to use room phone to ring reception the phone didn’t work (wires hanging out at wall!) The restaurant food was very disappointing, limited choice & over cooked. At some meal times the choice was cardboard pizza, overcooked pasta, cheese on toast!! & trays of stew & dried up veg. We really hoped the food would improve but to be honest it was atrocious…. Also if you book a 5 star hotel why when you arrive should you have to spend even more money to level up or be VIP?? Just to eat in some other restaurants , get nicer wine glasses & sit by a different swimming pool ( none of which was any better ….) We will never recommend or return to this hotel. I have never written a review before but felt this needed to be said.

We have just returned from a week at Melia Llana Sal Cape Verde. We can’t fault the hotel. It is comfortable and clean. The food is excellent and the staff friendly. It is situated next to the beach and about 5 minutes by taxi into Santa Maria. It is well worth a trip to Santa Maria the beach is beautiful and you can watch the boats come in with fish from the pier. By night it is lively and colourful.
