We booked one suite for five nights. We stayed in suite nr. 9, facing the cathedral, on the highest floor. Rooms are distributed on two levels around an internal courtyard, connected by suspended iron hallways. Fortunately we had help to carry our heavy luggage up to the second floor. The overall hotel architecture is quite nice. The property, although quite compact, features a covered scenic pool in the lobby and an additional small one located on the rooftop, both well frequented. Location is very good, just a few minutes away from the ocean’s shore and surrounded by many restaurants. The suite itself was rather large, although much taller than wide, simply furnished, with a very small wardrobe closet and a large - but unfortunately quite creaking - bed. Staff, particularly Jorge, did their best to be helpful to us on various matters. Unfortunately the hotel doesn’t provide any laundry service. There are laundries scattered around in S. Marta, but if you are on a tight schedule you’ll be on your own. The hotel serves a simple breakfast starting from 07:00. No option and no service even exists before that. As we had twice a tour with pickup time 06:00 we had to elaborate a plan B on our own. Fortunately there is a shopping mall (Exito) a few block away, on Carrera 5 / Calle 19. Furthermore, WIFI in the room was rather patchy. Although staff tried to help us with this, the only real solution was to repeatedly stay in the lobby to perform sensitive tasks which required stable connections (such as credit card checks or bookings). Finally, soundproofing was definitively a serious issue. The location is very busy till late at night with restaurants, lounges, people and traffic and sounds could enter the room as if windows were open. The cathedral itself features external loudspeakers to follow the mass… and this was the holy week, notoriously a very busy time for everybody in Colombia. All in all an instructing experience, but for another time we would rather look elsewhere.
