Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort

Our third holiday to the resort, such a wide range of activities for everyone and a great family destination. From the moment we arrived the welcome was very warm and nothing is a problem for any of the staff especially concierge who are so knowledgeable and helpful for every need. I see comments about staying close to the main building, however we stay almost as far away at the bottom of the hill, buggies are available on hand with only a few minutes to wait to take you wherever you need to go on the resort, no walking if you don’t want to. Amazing breakfast with something for every taste. Lunch by the pool in Le Tousco is relaxed and the ice cream Kart is to die for! We ate in the Guadina restaurant on the terrace every night and has a great menu and the children were treated so accommodatingly in and out of kids club in the evenings. Probably the best kids club experience that our kids have had and they loved it which allowed us to relax in the Spa, which was simply exceptional. We had relaxing treatments each day and such a relaxing experience with internal pool side loungers or outside if you wish. Would highly recommend and we plan to return in 2024.

Chambre très bien, vaste et propre avec une belle salle de bain, un dressing et un grand salon. Déjeuners et diners relativement bons mais pas à la hauteur d’un hôtel de 5 étoiles. Petit déjeuner à revoir, le jus d’orange n’est pas un vrai jus frais, fort dommage. Manque de diversité. Un client « affaire «  n’est malheureusement pas traité de la même manière qu’un client « particulier « , fort dommage également. J’ai remarqué que certains membres du personnel ne répondent pas toujours aux attentes élevées que l’on pourrait attendre en terme de professionnalisme, d’efficacité et de courtoisie pour un hôtel 5 étoiles. Personnel de l’espace sportif, piscine, sauna… très bien. Il serait important de mettre l’accent sur l’importance de la satisfaction client. Espaces verts très bien. Dans l’ensemble bien mais je n’y retournerai pas à titre personnel, si c’est pour recevoir ces mêmes prestations.

Large and luxurious resort hidden away in the hills. The entrance is impressive and concierge welcome faultless. We were then taken on a golf buggy to the restaurant which was fun. However, lunch is only being served in somewhere that is like a golf club clubhouse and was certainly not up to the standard that you would expect in this resort. We had to wait for a table, the menu was limited and although there was an abundance of staff the service was average. We did not feel welcome. The resort gave an overall impression of a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for privacy, spa treatments and a few rounds of golf. It is not however up to standard if you are just looking for a quality lunch at a five resort resort which was disappointing. Definitely expected more from such an impressive property.

It’s our second stay here and, even though we’ve had a really pleasant experience the first time, we’re leaving not as relaxed as the 1st one. During check in we were told by the receptionist that kids are only allowed at the spa pool between 2 and 5pm. Much for our surprise, on the second day of our stay, kids were already yelling by the indoor pool at 11am with most of the childless adults having to leave it because of the circus it was. I’ve kindly checked with the pool girl what was that about since both their website and the receptionist state that no kids are allowed that time of the day, she gave me a “oh, when the weather is not so great kids are actually allowed the entire day, sorry”. Quite misleading, we wouldn’t have come here on a “not so great” weather weekend if we knew that beforehand. There’s nothing else to do there if the rains so we’ve felt like we’ve wasted our money to hear other peoples kids misbehaving… Other thing was the room service during our first night, my boyfriend ordered a club sandwich and the bread was as mushy as it gets, and my ceaser salad had this horrible fried sort of chicken nuggets on top of it and anchovies. Yuck. Not sure we’ll a have a third time there.

Despite the great food I’m leaving with a bad taste in my mouth, and it’s so unnecessary. Beautiful setting. Just be very aware if you visit even slightly out of high season… The rooms are spacious comfortable and well equipped. “Helen” who waited on us over breakfasts and lunch was superb happy and helpful. The food and wine are amazing. But… come the first week of September they are really just set up for conferences. There’s only one restaurant out of 5 serving lunch. That’s the one at the golf course club house and it can mean a lengthy wait. They don’t take the trouble to make up all the sun beds leaving us feeling a mild inconvenience just being there. The river course is fabulous greens are very tricky. Le chateau course was also picturesque, but the greens were in dreadful shape. I’ve played public courses with better greens for less than 1/4 the price of Le chateau. We were told we could use bikes for free to get out and explore. Maybe something got lost in translation. We took off for just an hour and a half as the sun was about to set. We we then told we could secondly have them for free the next day as we hardly had any time. My wife became sick and we couldn’t use the bikes the following day. I informed the concierge so they didn’t hold them for us. Upon check out I discovered I’d been charged 90 euro for one and a half hours use!!! Considering the size of our bill when I questioned the charge that should have been a simple click of the delete button. But no. Front desk called the concierge manager, then the hotel director. Their decision was the charge stands. I paid in full, but with a bitter taste in my mouth, never to return again. Not that they care. At least I have a dreadfully poor customer service story for me to share.

I was travelling to Terre Blanche with my wife and two children. Prior to our stay my wife informed the hotel that she had a potentially life threatening allergy to flax seeds. Our first meal at the resort we were served multi grain bread covered with flax seeds....we informed the kitchen of the mistake and they were rightly apologetic. Despite this, they served my wife the same bread at least 4 other times. I have a (less serious) hazlenut allergy. I explicitly asked 2 waiters, who checked with the kitchen, whether the dessert was safe to eat. I was told "absolutely" no hazlenuts. I took one bite, and the thing was filled with nutella. Frankly, they just don't get it and they are going to put someone in the hospital. Despite my numerous complaints, and speaking to different managers, I was never offered anything beyond hollow apologies. Beyond this major issue, lesser issues with the fact that AC barely worked in our room, and kiddie pool was infested with hornet nests. And it's a joke to call this a 5-star resort. People are very nice, but they just aren't properly trained in the way you'd expect from a place this expensive. On a positive, the area is nice

We have spent many happy family holidays at TB over 7 years from when it first opened under Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts. We have recently returned as a family of 8 after 12 years away staying in the Terre Blanche villa. The grounds and golf course have matured and are all beautifully maintained and pristine. It is sad to say that the same cannot be said for the hotel and spa. Even though the hotel claims to have been refurbished the rooms and bathrooms are dated and tired. The spa is also showing signs of nearly 20 years of use. The restaurant service is patchy at best, losing orders and not being mindful of serious dietary requirements even though this was emailed prior to our arrival and we were assured that everyone was aware. Our daughter's dinner had to be replaced completely one evening when dairy was included. It is a good job that she checked. We took our granddaughter to the restaurant one afternoon for ice cream and were given a long list of flavours to choose from only to be told 15 minutes later that they could only make one flavour for all of us! The buffet breakfast, whilst plentiful, can be extremely busy especially when the conference coaches arrive in the car park. This happened twice during our week long stay, more akin to a rugby scrum at a Hilton hotel and not what we had expected from a 5 star hotel. Our son booked a restaurant and transport through the hotel concierge for dinner with his wife in a local village only to arrive to find out they had no reservation because the concierge hadn't confirmed the booking to them. This happened on 2 separate occasions! Housekeeping each day was hit and miss and our pool was only cleaned when we made a request. It is very sad to see the decline of such a lovely hotel which had such high standards. If you are expecting a true 5 star experience then this is not the place for you. I'm sure Mr Hopp would be disappointed to know that his TB legacy appears to have been diminished by the current management.

This hotel is beautiful. The accommodation is good- we had some problems with heating but it was sorted out quickly with a follow up call from reception which we appreciated. The pool is amazingly beautiful and the spa is lovely with friendly staff. The staff in the restaurant were very varied. Every day of our 3 day stay they asked were we new! Even if they had served us before. The lady overseeing was excellent - she needs to train the rest of the staff to her standards. The food for breakfast was lovely and varied, room service was excellent, prompt and delicious. We ate in the Gaudina restaurant which was ok- again, not good service. This is a beautiful hotel which with a few tweaks could be excellent.

A visually pretty property with nice staff but some very odd little rules that make the experience less than 5* deluxe and don’t make you yearning to return: As an example, full breakfast is included at the restaurant (quality is high), but if you want room service breakfast there are a lot of “rules” which feels more like a low-end chain hotel: - You only are able to have juice OR fresh fruit (in a €1,400 / night villa) - If you want something as simple as porridge or cereal they charge extra - If you want the preference of a fruit plate rather than the fruit salad, it’s also extra. - Eggs of course are another extra for room service There are some basic amenities lacking which again make the property feel lower end in comparison to the world’s best - almost like an accountant has chosen the amenities rather than top quality hospitality managers: - No conditioner in the bathrooms as a standard? - A lack of sun beds and umbrellas around the pool (just not enough when it’s busy) - Not enough complimentary water in the rooms (I really think at hotels charging €1,000+ per night, the basic standard of plenty of bottled water should be provided in rooms each day upon daily cleaning) This is an eye wateringly expensive hotel with some short sighted management decisions amongst some good points. A €200 / night Hilton in Asia will grant you better amenities and flexibility which is a shame to see. We stayed here in the Four Seasons days and whilst service attitude is still very good, prices are now triple, but the generosity is substantially lower. Hoping one day to return for a 3rd stay, but we feel the hotel needs to have a more generous and luxurious approach to its guests for the €10,000 / week accommodation charge.
