We saw it from outside with the impressive building and once we were in, I fell in love with the decor, very chic! The food was very good and both waitresses who served us were very friendly, happy to talk about the local area and things to do etc. We did not stay at the hotel but the spa looked good too.

This is a large yet comfortable hotel where you feel that you are the only people staying there by the staff. From the excellent reception and throughout the stay all your like and needs are stored and you never have to tell anyone twice. Even the most senior manager mucks in when needed with whatever job is at hand. You feel that everyone is working together on your behalf. We had an excellent stay and will certainly return in the future.

We stayed at Balmer Lawn over the Easter break and it was so good we have booked again for May half term! We stayed in room 18 which which was very spacious and met our family needs, it was very clean and well-maintained. All of the staff, including front desk, food and beverage and housekeeping were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. My sons (4 and 8) loved the games room and we all enjoyed the delicious breakfast. The inside pool was clean and well-maintained, we are looking forward to trying the outside pool during our next break. My older son and I spent an evening in the inside / outside bar area wrapped up in blankets reading books and were made to feel very welcome. We didn't eat in the restaurant during the visit but are planning to eat there next time

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted warmly and made to feel right at home. The hotel is inclusive, we are both disabled but found it easy to get about and use the facilties. There are lifts and ramps discreetly blended into the layout, without imposing on the aesthetics. The hotel is excellent for pet owners who can bring their dogs with them and enjoy the restaurant without needing to mix with other guests who may not appreciate this. Those who smoke can do so away from indoor areas and non smokers without feeling ostracised. There are plenty of facilities such as gym, sauna, play area, indoor and outdoor pools as well various private dining/meeting rooms. We did not use any of the facilties as mentioned but enjoyed the delicious and reasonably priced food and drinks the restaurant offered. The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed company on the patio area in the restaurant and even on the 'Brockenhurst beach' a few yards away. If outside when it cools down there are heaters and even blankets to allow guests to continue enjoying the environment. The food and drinks were excellent and we were ably looked after by Samantha in the afternoon and later Adam helped us with the menu offering advice and an excellent helpful and friendly service. Breakfast was a choice of continental or cooked breakfast buffet but we could have ordered off the extensive breakfast menu. Thanks everyone at Balmer lawn, we look forward to coming back

We were driving through the new forest and spotted this place and decided to give it a go as traffic was really bad on the Saturday . We were pleasantly surprised how nice this place was and was greeted by a man with a colourful shirt called mark , he was very polite and gave us a warm welcome . We then sat down and didn't wait long as the young lad with tattoos was quick to take our order . We decided on ordering a few pizzas , they were delicious! The only thing I wish is that they served pizzas in the evening and not just to 6pm

We enjoyed a last minute two night break with dinner allowance included. The hotel has a relaxed feel with very welcoming and friendly staff - they have got the ‘feel’ just right! The food was excellent - I had a fish dish with cod, mussels and prawns and it was amazing 😊the second nights chicken was also excellent. The grounds are attractive and although fairly close to the main road offered quiet areas to sit. The bar area was great, again a good vibe and comfortable seats to sit out on the terrace.

We love this friendly family run hotel. We have visited many times and love it’s right on the edge of the forest. The hotel has probably the best food locally in my opinion. The food in The Beresford Restaurant is amazing, I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed. We also like The Lodge where you get a wonderful pizza from their outdoor pizza oven. The hotel also has 2 swimming pools one indoors and an outside one too (although the outside pool opens end of May). There’s a spa too that my wife says is really reasonably priced. But most of all for me is the friendly staff they really make you feel special and look after you so well.

Strange place, great bar area and the food is really good but when it comes to the rooms a lot to comment on. We booked a room well ahead of time and confirmed we would be bringing a dog, we were placed in a room on the top floor that even in early may was so hot in the room with windows open wasn’t pleasant for the dog or us. I wanted to speak to someone on reception but by 9pm on a Saturday there was nobody around. The room we were allocated was ok however the fridge that was supplied wasn’t working so any food we wanted to store for the dog wasn’t possible so had to ask to store the food in the kitchen which isn’t ideal. For me the charge to have a dog stay is a bit ridiculous as other hotels in Brockenhurst at least offer some treats or bed for the cost which in our room we received nothing. This is our second stay at this hotel and not sure we would stay again which is a shame as had recommended to friends but will pass on these concerns to them with the hope they can request a room that is not at the top of the hotel especially when bringing dogs. Our last stay was on the 1st floor with the dog and was much more comfortable so would suggest anyone booking here to insist on a room as low as possible as none of the rooms have aircon or fans.

Me and my husband visited the Balmer lawn hotel and are very happy with the service we received. Food was exceptional staff were lovely. However one staff member really stood out and went above and beyond for us. Jordan is an asset to your team and also makes very good cocktails. We will be back again.
