Hocus Pocus Tiny Hotel

Quirky, secretive, amazing little hotel with mystical features. We arrived at this hotel and went to our room sand it took us to an enchanted place. Great little place if you want something different. I definitely want to come back here. We came a a group of girls on a celebration but I'd love to come back to York to see more soon. I would definitely book this hotel again. 🌟 🧙‍♀️🧚‍♀️🌌🔮

Really wanted to give 5stars as you can see how much attention and work has gone into this place. It is amazing, it's in an amazing location, the room theme was brilliant. Only suggestion would be, it would be nice in the king and queen room to have a male dress up item also, but it's not mega. The ONLY negative I have is the bed. It was way too soft, I felt like I was going to roll out of bed, don't know if the mattress needs replacing or something, but I didn't sleep well at all. Other than that, it was a great experience, but for the price, I'd expect a better mattress.

What a fantastic and immersive experience, especially for children. This is an amazing place to stay, our children absolutely loved the hotel, it was a joy to watch their excitement as they explored the room. The effort and attention to detail is second to none and we made some fantastic memories that will last a lifetime. It is also a fantastic central location within easy walking distance of all the main attractions. Very easy to nip back to the room to refresh between activities, drop off heavy shopping bags etc. Cannot recommend highly enough, this is way more than a hotel, this is an experience. Would definitely stay again and cannot recommend highly enough.

This is our second time staying in this hotel. Each room is bewitching with an amazing attention to detail. Clean, comfortable and very close to the Shambles. Have to give a shout out to Laura who is fabulous she was very helpful when we needed it.

The theme and central location just on the edge of The Shambles are amazing and I absolutely loved the stay and will be coming back. I can cope with the noise from nearby pubs for the design and spookiness of the hotel but we were in the Principium Magicae room and there is no openable window. I completely get why with the age and style of the window and there is natural light, but we were roasting because the thermostat kept resetting and we could not get it to stay below 23 and we couldn't open a window to cool down, so while I will 100% be back, and fully recommend anyone reading this visits, for me personally I would stay in a different room. Other than that the room and hotel are really lovely.

This is a really quirky little hotel, beautifully placed for central York. However, the location is also a hindrance at night. The noise from outside was excessive and whilst this is not the hotel’s fault in any way, it should perhaps be a consideration if you’re staying at a weekend. I had about 2 hours from 3-5 but was then woken up by other residents. The room itself was clean, well equipped and fun but could do with a couple of things to make it better: A mirror at a decent height or a portable vanity mirror would be useful. Ours was too tall and too far away (over the bed) for me to straighten my hair and I couldn’t get my straighteners into the bathroom. A shelf in the bathroom for makeup etc. given the only usable mirror is in the bathroom, I could have used a shelf rather than just a sink. I’m confused with the comments about the bed. I guess it’s what you’re used to, I found it quite uncomfortable and the springs were noisy during the night when turning over, maybe time for a mattress change. Finally, and my biggest issue, the bathroom was really cold. It seemed to have no separate heat source. It had a massive single glazed window and it’s drafty. To warm it up you either need the door open (no thanks) or waste water by putting the shower on. It really needs a little heater. It’s the ambience that makes Hocus Pocus, it’s well worth a stay but bring ear plugs!

Very unique stay! The detail & effort that has gone into this hotel is amazing. We stayed in the sorcererym room & it looked better than the photos. The bed was so comfortable & the room was so warm (which was fantastic for this time of year). The view was of one of the churches was lovely & the location is a stones throw from The shambles, it was lovely to wake up & be in the city of york already. We loved the gothic feel & touches of the place. We will be back!

Horrible horrible customer service never known anything like it and it was even worse of a response from the owner Vincent Robert’s. We had a sudden death completely unexpected 😭 our mother died a few nights we were due to go and they just sent me the cancelation policy and reiterated I should have canceled two weeks ago if I wanted to rearrange completely dismissive as if we were supposed to know our mother was going to die , vile vile absolute disgrace £240 we paid for one night and they wouldn’t even allow us to reschedule even with offering proof of death certificate extremely insensitive and clearly money motivated avoid this place at all costs also refusing to refund the owner signed his first email off as case closed with out even allowing me to respond I’m so disgusted and upset. Also had extremely poor messages of giovana and camilla who run the customer service. I asked them for a manager number and they said have a look on the website like really ? HORRENDOUS
