The hostel was great and worth the stay for different reasons:
1. Amazing location with big lake, near public transportation
2. Friendly and helpful staff, you can borrow hair dryer at the reception. You can keep your bag in locker room also, bring £1 coin or ask lovely staff for tap to pay.
3. Huge shared kitchen with lots of cooking essentials which can be used to cook nearly everything you can.
4. Clean and well maintained room.
Can’t ask for more with this price.

Stayed here with daughter for the start of the Cumbria Way walk. Arrived by train and it's literally right outside the train station entrance.top marks for location
Twin room. Large bathroom with bath. Some may say room is dated. For price excellent .
Weatherspoons for food around the corner - less than a 10 mi s walk
Friendly staff filled our water bottles before we set off for our walk.
All in all met all our requirements.
Also for information it's dog friendly too.
For £50 for night (deal if booked train ticket through trip.com got discount on Hotels.

酒店體驗相當差。當天四點多入住，給我們的房間，連前台接待自己都找不到，入住之後發現我們預訂的兩張雙人大床，而是一張雙人大床加兩張簡易單人床，去前台交涉，被告知客房已滿，第二關才有解決辦法。到晚上十點準備睡覺，發現其中一個簡易床有塌陷，翻開床單才發現少了三條木欄，再次去前台交涉，晚班經理表示自己衹是餐廳經理，衹能先給加床墊，第二天解決，結果第二天也衹是把簡易床換成鋼絲床，還不如前一晚的床墊。第二天晚上拿着不清理客房換的5鎊抵用券去一樓酒吧消費，點餐後發現買單價格和才到不一樣，經過確實，確實是酒吧價格系統有問題，但是吧枱服務生拿着菜單回來時，把菜單丟在我們邊上，遞餐時的表情也是相當不爽。虛偽的英式抱歉。這個酒店根本不值這個價錢。

Traditional city centre hotel, great location, excellent value (low season?). The young lady on reception duty, spotted my request for a quiet room , well done - stayed at a 4 star in Liverpool the night before and they didn't!
Young chap also on reception gave me a bit of the history of the place - thank you . Room was fine, old building so high ceiling, nothing flash but it had some character. The lounge is beautiful with original features.

整體感覺挺滿意的。最喜歡這裏的公共廚房，是我住過的最全最好的廚房，有微波爐，電磁爐，烤箱，菜板，菜刀，各種鍋，各種盤子，各種碗，廚房用具特別豐富，很多人在這裏做飯，太方便了。就沖這點，就很棒。當然啦，住的是老房子，一個大房間裏有8個床位，沒有遮擋布，全通透。床頭衹有usb的插頭，沒有大的插頭，但是廚房和公共客廳有大的插頭。公共衞生間還是挺乾淨的。住的地理位置偏僻清幽，還是建議住在Ambleside。這個位置末班車19：35，到了這裏天氣太黑了，有點害怕，但是鄉村環境挺好。

AAlanPBooked in for 1 night to have a rest in some luxurious surroundings after a lot of travelling around the country visiting friends. Hunday Manor is a beautiful old house in a fantastic spot on the side of a hill with a great view. The hotel is very well appointed and the rooms are well looked after. The quality of the food for both an evening meal and the cooked-to-order breakfast was excellent. Perhaps the only facility I would add is a few overnight EV charge points in the car park.
The service however was rather comical, starting with check-in. After confirming my name, 1 night stay, and printing out the reservation sheet, somehow the chap on reception muddled up my solo reservation with a couple arriving on the same day who were staying for a couple of weeks and gave me their room. After settling in for a much needed afternoon nap in the very comfortable bed and 'locking' the door on the inside, the rather startled couple walked in having been given a card for the same room. From that point on I never really managed to relax. I offered to move room when I went down for dinner later on, but the chap declined and mumbled something odd about the length of stay and seemed to point at the paperwork suggesting I had signed it making it my mistake! Sigh.
Things didn't get a lot better in the restaurant. Myself and another solo traveller were given tables at the back (by the same chap), seemingly to keep us out the way of the couples who arrived later and were seated at the windows. When either of us asked questions about the menu there was lack of understanding about the dishes.. I was then asked around half a dozen times by multiple staff if everything was ok. Meanwhile I could hear one of the couples quitely chatting about their room, no doubt the room I was in. Upon trying to put the bill on my room, the same chap from earlier left me at the bar with a card machine asking whether I wanted to add a tip.
At breakfast the next morning it continued. When I arrived the first breakfast room was full of tables needing clearing so I was given a table in the same area where I had dinner. This time given a table at the window but right in front of the only other guest, a lady already eating her breakfast. My table wasn't set so inexplicably the waiter clumsily took a second place-setting from her table while she was midway through eating! After dusting a few crumbs from one of the plates I enjoyed my breakfast. Towards the end of eating the staff were discussing how to rearrange the room for an event later in the day and started moving things around. After hearing the same couple from dinner asking to be told when their room was made available, cleaners were hanging around at the bottom of the stairs when I returned to the room. Nothing like a bit of a hurry up to finish breakfast and get out of your room to make you feel like a valued guest.
Upon check-out an apology and a chat but by then the damage was done. No offer to comp a drink (or dinne)r after making a mess of things either. It's a lovely hotel that could offer a real 5-star experience, but the service ended up more like an episode of Fawlty Towers and needs a bit of a rethink.
Next stop China.

ГГостьI have grave misgivings about hotels in the busiest parts of the Lake District, especially at holiday times. Obviously they will be relentlessly overcrowded, with harassed and unfriendly staff. I’ve wanted to go back to the Proper Lake District for a while though so took a risk on the King’s Head. It’s easy to find on the ear popping main road up from Grasmere, just beyond the impressive hulk of Steel Fell, close to Thirlemere. Parking anywhere in the Lakes is hideous and expensive. Not here. Relaxed and plenty of room. It’s a long building with a pleasant bar restaurant area and beer garden. I found a rather pleasant residents lounge where a lady called Jo checked me in and made me feel welcome. It does get busy with passing trade but the staff look after their residents. They flogged me decent real ale and Jura whisky (the proper stuff). Breakfast is briskly table served from a menu and is well presented. I didn’t eat otherwise there but the food is popular and well priced. The road outside is busy and a bit of a racetrack, and the occasional fighter jet roars between the mountains on low altitude practice, but the relentless bleating of the sheep opposite soon returns things to normal. I was a little sorry to depart, but the manager said he hoped I would come again. I believe I will, and will even bring my wife.

The room was neat and tidy; however, there was quite a bit of noticeable wear and tear. In the restaurant there was also a leak coming from the ceiling at one corner, so the place could benefit from some investment and maintenance. Overall, the staff and dining experience were highlights of the stay.

KKristinMMy husband and I stayed here in one of the larger posh 4-poster bed rooms for 2 nights nights. It is an ideal location, being a very short walk from the village high street, across the road from the harbour with beautiful lake views, but tucked high enough away from any street noise. And because it's a proper hotel, the room we booked was large enough, and even had a bidet. There was adequate parking, a lovely full English breakfast buffet, and a fancy bar and restaurant onsite. The only downside was that the lift was broken, so we had to climb to the top floor many times a day, and construction was taking place on site, but that was quiet for us as our room was around the other side of the building. If you're there in the dead of summer, there was no AC. (Just a heads up in case you're from the states and used to it all hotel rooms) Not currently any pool or hot tub at the time of typing this.
I would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend it to my friends. 👍🏼

ГГостьI arrived on a stormy night in the lake district - on entering the hotel I was met with a warm glow from the log fire and a very warm welcome from the receptionist.
As the hotel dining room was about to close, a room was sorted and the kitchen kept open for an evening meal - a delicious melt in the mouth steak was a pleasure after a 6 hour
drive from the south of england, washed down with a welcome glass of Shiraz.
The bed was very comfortable, the room had a large bath and separate shower cubicle and copious hot water.
The decor and fittings were in sympathy with the age and history of the hotel, a pleasant change from the blandness of more modern mass market hotels.
The staff were very friendly and it was a pleasure to be assisted without having to use automated impersonal systems.
I will not hesitate to stay at the hotel again when I am next in the area.

PPriyanka BajirajThe property and the atmosphere is lovely. The view from the restaurant garden is very pleasant and beautiful. The room size, bathroom size and amenities were good. We faced 1 major problem to be precise, which made us a bit painful.
Чистота - комната была чистой, кроме коврового. Она не чувствовала, что она была пуста. Там, вероятно, жило животное, оставающееся в этой комнате перед нами, и на ковре было много волос. Я понимаю, что это дружелюбное имущество для домашних животных, и у меня нет никаких проблем с этим. Но надлежащая уборка комнаты до следующего проверки является основным ожиданием. Мы не могли ходить по полу, не покрывая ногами волосы.
Кроме того, все остальное было очень хорошо. Завтрак был также хорошим, а обслуживание клиентов было очень вежливым и гостеприимным.

ГГостьУ меня есть только хорошие вещи, чтобы сказать! Комната была очень просторной и милой для нас обоих и имела все, что вам нужно. Мы остались в трехкомнатной комнате для 2 из нас (но в конце комнаты было 2 одноместных кроватей и 2 банковых кроватей, но никаких проблем с этим, конечно). Кровать была очень удобна, общие души и туалеты на улице были чистыми, пространными и яркими. Сотрудники контр-работницы Мэтт, в частности, были невероятно полезны и дружелюбны, и помогли нам выяснить способ пойти Бленкатра через Sharp Edge утром, информировали нас о доступности автобусов и расписаниях и т.д. Они также позволили нам хранить багаж с ними, пока мы пошли и позволили нам использовать их туалеты и души, чтобы заново переодеться после похода. Мы также обедали там и еда была вкусная!! Действительно отличный отель очень ценен за деньги. Спасибо!

ГГостьWow!! What an amazing hotel. We arrived in the middle of a power outage, to be met by polite friendly and professional staff, we were made aware of the situation and offered a seat by the fire with complimentary nibbles, we were kept up to date with the situation throughout until power was restored. Considering the disruption, the staff remained calm and all food was delivered promptly and was delicious. The rooms were very tastefully done, well equipped and spotless, beds were extremely comfy and the rooms were toasty warm on a night that got below freezing. Breakfast was really good and we were well looked after by all of the staff. We have to say it is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and would 100% recommend The Melbreak to anyone. Well done everyone concerned
