Strathburn Hotel Inverurie by Compass Hospitality

We stayed here for one night and found the hotel to be very comfortable, clean, friendly staff, good menu (the fish goujons were fabulous and my husband's steak pie was one of the best ever), and good bar prices. The bedroom was well appointed and very clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the en-suite had everything we needed. The receptionist was very nice and helpful with great customer service skills. There was plenty of parking, we were towing a small caravan and they were very gracious in allowing us to park across a couple of spaces.

First and foremost I would like to bring special attention and praise to the front desk concierge, 'Sam'. In all the hotels I've vacationed in around the world, no other concierge I have met has even remotely come close to the professionalism, customer service, friendliness and care of duty to both the establishment of which she is employed and me, the visiting guest. She is an irreplaceable asset to the Strathburn Hotel, and I truly hope that they recognise what a gem they have and compensate her accordingly. As for the property, Strathburn Hotel is well situated in a very peaceful location of Inverurie with local facilities within walking distance. It is a modern hotel with a touch of classic Scottish style thrown in. There's plenty of parking for those of you who are driving and was very easy to find. For those of you who are looking for entertainment, Aberdeen is a mere 25-minute drive from the hotel containing all the typical amenities you would expect from a city of this size. It even has a small amusement park on the beachside if you're looking for something fun to pass the time. All-in-all I had a great stay in the Strathburn Hotel in Inverurie and it would certainly be my first choice location if I am up that way again. Thank you for a fantastic welcoming stay. Especially you, Sam. There is very little I can say here other than some minor things that are being overlooked by the management and domestic staff of a four-star hotel. The suite that I stayed in was at the point where some TLC was needed. To the management: The caulking surrounding the bathtub needs to be stripped and replaced due to the beginnings of obvious breakdown. The showerhead should have been replaced a long time ago. The security latch that stops the window from being able to just be pulled all the way open is working backwards. Instead, you have to use the latch to enable the closure of the window, (center right). Also, regarding the windows; none looked like they had been washed in quite some time. To the domestic staff: More attention needs to be taken regarding dusting and cleaning of surfaces. The tray containing the drinks station didn't look like it had been wiped clean recently. The luggage shelf at the entrance and the dining table surfaces desperately need resurfacing as they bring the overall look of the suite to shame and finally, more attention to detail should be taken with regards to dusting; for example, cobwebs in the corners of all the windows.

Let’s start with the photos that you have on your website and on Trip advisor. They reflect nothing of how this hotel looks. These photos must have been taken when it first opened. We arrived early evening to check in. Our room was up a staircase which looked like the decoration hadn’t been touched for years. Our room was supposed to be a double room, it was far from it. We found a very small double bed which if you were a Borrower it would have been ideal. The curtains and linen were very old and washed to death. You couldn’t have swung a cat in that room. Well what can I say about the bathmat. I would not like to think what the stain was on it. The rubber anti slip mat for the bath was so old I think it was an original one when the hotel opened. We had a terrible nights sleep as the bed was so small, we had dare not turn over or we would have fell out of bed. This was obviously a single room with one bedside table and the smallest wardrobe ever. We arrived for breakfast the following morning in the very dated dining room. The staff member was very pleasant and took our order and said ‘please help yourself to the continental breakfast, of which the choice was a few boxes of cereals and only four slices of bread for five of the guests that were In the dining room. The fruit juice was so watered down, it was just flavoured water. Our cooked breakfast arrived (don’t get excited, you will be disappointed). The bacon was cooked to death, the scrambled egg was so dry, it was a though it had been cooked in the desert. The tomatoes tasted like they had been washed in disinfectant. Sad to say we couldn’t eat it, it was inedible. We were booked for four more nights but we had no choice but to check out. A bit of advice, the hotel needs an urgent update and the food really needs improving.

I booked a superior twin room for 2 nights for myself and my son.....we were attending a family wedding. Although nothing major wrong with room except a couple of stains on the carpets that were very noticeable and no biscuits to go with tea and coffee it was an ok room....but not in my opinion superior. Breakfast was nice. Staff lovely

Just a brief one night stay but room very comfortable. Old fashioned furniture but spotless . Staff very friendly and parking close to the entrance. Breakfast ok, not huge but perfectly adequate and served hot. Would stay again if in the area.

We had a lovely weekend here, its a very warm & welcoming hotel, our room was clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Ellie on reception was lovely, very friendly and served us drinks in the bar in the evening when the bar staff had gone. We didn't eat at the hotel, we walked into town after a day sightseeing. Would recommend and will stay again if in the area.

We stayed at this nice traditional hotel with another two couples at the weekend. Our rooms and the sitting areas were clean, warm and comfortable. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. The girl looking after us at breakfast time was so friendly and helpful. Thank you again.

Lovely friendly place to stay Breakfast is very good & Fresh made. Great to see it open to the public again. In time would be nice to see new carpets in bedroom’s & some rooms with walk in showers but it all takes time.😁Have stayed 3 times since opened & will be definitely back.

Was not impressed with the room in the least which was suppost to be a Superior room, wouldn't of liked to of seen the standard. Both mornings no hot water in the shower complained the first morning to be told no its not cold water its tepped !! it was cold. Booked the hotel for the food reviews as travel all over the country with work and fancied trying something different so tried the Fish Goujouns turned out to be fish fingers. Lesson learned dont stay here again
