We came in on an early flight, got to the hotel around 11:30am, our room was not ready, they said return at 2pm which is the check in time. They stored our luggage and we walked the waterfront for a bit. Returned at 2:25pm, our room was still not ready, so we had to change our clothes in the public restroom for a tour we had booked. They took our luggage again, and we returned at 8pm to check in. The room was ready, but when we got there, we found hair in the sink and shower, so it had not been thoroughly cleaned. Before arrival, we were notified that construction would be starting in June. To our dismay, it was started when we got here. Loud construction, every day. The room they gave us was next to a utility room, so there was a short but loud buzzing sound every 5-6 seconds for our entire stay. Absolutely maddening after awhile, very difficult to sleep. Our shower door was off the hinge, so water from the shower soaked the floor. The desk staff mostly ignored us coming and going. No pleasantries at all. The breakfast buffet was good, the dining staff was very friendly. Housekeeping was the opposite. Not even unfriendly, but almost hostile when we returned to our room at 2pm in the afternoon and they were cleaning. She left the room and slammed the door without a word to us. The hotel had recommended a transport company for the airport transfers, and they overcharged us by 300 Rand! We advised them to not recommend that company again. Good location, that’s it.
