"We stayed in a deluxe suite with a pool for 7 days. The room was somewhat run-down and felt quite old, unlike the photos online. Cleanliness was also subpar, likely due to the room's age. For example, there was mold in the grout between the bathroom sink and surrounding tiles, and the floor was cracked and always felt dirty. The sofa was white but very dirty, with faded colors and grime. The room's soundproofing was poor; we could hear conversations from upstairs in the bathroom. Furthermore, although the hotel advertised an all-inclusive package, they were very strict about bottled water and meal times. Each person was only allowed one bottle of water at a time, and it wasn't delivered; we had to get it ourselves from the bar. We were rushed around for meals if it was even slightly late, and the staff became quite rude. We had a small baby traveling with us, and although we requested a crib during booking and reminded the hotel via WhatsApp, there was no crib in the room. We waited over an hour after check-in before an extra crib was provided, disrupting the baby's sleep. In short, our experience with the hotel was subpar; the facilities, cleanliness, and service were not worth it."

"I can only say that 95% of the pictures of this hotel on Ctrip are very different from the actual situation. There is also a bird's-eye view in the hotel's exterior pictures. Those who don't know will think it is a three- or four-story white independent building with a yard, and there is a parking lot and swimming pool inside. In fact, this hotel is at the end of a small alley in the ancient city of Chania. It is a two-story tavern-like building, like a homestay. I don't know where the name of the hot spring comes from, anyway, there is no hot spring. The room we booked is a 1.8-meter bed and two sofa beds. As a result, the room provided by the hotel is a small room at the corner of the stairs. There is only a 0.8-meter sofa bed and a 1.5-meter double bed. The bathroom is closed, small and very dirty. As soon as the children came in, they clamored that they were deceived and asked me to change hotels. We communicated with the hotel through Ctrip, and the hotel argued like this: First of all, the photos are seriously inconsistent with this point. The hotel said that our hotel has many room types and we can't take photos of them all. (Where did the photo with a yard and a swimming pool come from?) Secondly, regarding the serious inconsistency of the booked bed type, the hotel said that we have a family room with three beds. But yesterday a family of four came and we gave them the room. (What is this? We booked what we want. It's like our room was downgraded without our knowledge, and the hotel refused to apologize, refused to refund, and even made excuses). After failing to communicate with Ctrip, we changed to another hotel the next day. At least the new one was clean and tidy, and it matched the pictures. But this bad hotel didn't refund us a penny. This was our first bad experience in Chania. I hope that if you travel there in the future, don't make the same mistake again☹️ (The pictures I attached are our actual rooms. Please compare them with the pictures on Ctrip! Then in the last picture, a person is standing there. The small glass door behind her is the main entrance of this hotel deep in the alley! There is a table smaller than a pancake stall inside the small door, which is the hotel front desk!)"

Creta Palm Resort Hotel & Apartments

"I was allocated Creta Palm as a replacement for my selected hotel, which was unable to accommodate me. I was unsure what to expect, but was pleased. The hotel is friendly, with helpful reception staff, available 24 hours (always reassuring for a solo traveller). The main hotel has a lovely pool (too cold to use on this visit), and a small variety area, with a very jovial barman, who quickly learned names and drink choices! I was concerned the hotel would be too noisy for me. However, my room was in the annex across the road (a busy road at times, but there is a direct footbridge), and once in my room, all I could hear was the crash of waves on the beach! The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. I did get bitten by mosquitoes on the first night - do come prepared! Breakfast had a good choice, and plenty. I recommend the yoghurt! Creta Palm is a good base for exploring the Chania area. There are public buses running along the coast (sometimes can be unreliable), and the city is walkable (about 90 minutes). Can also recommend a trip to Imbros Gorge. If I visited again, I would definitely hire a car so I could see more of Crete."
