"What a beautiful oasis these bungalows are. The wildlife is all around you, sloths, monkeys, toucans, poison dart frogs ad infinitum. Livia (front of house) was wonderful, really helpful, professional, friendly and a font of all knowledge, a real asset to this wonderful small hotel. It was Eric’s first day, the day we arrived, he too was a great asset to this lovely little hotel and we loved chatting to them and ‘picking their brains’. The bungalows are all separate so there is lots of privacy. The beds were spacious and comfortable and the bungalows had air con. The bungalows only provide breakfast, which was delicious but there is a kitchen for guests to use which was great. You could cook in it but we only used it for drinks and snacks. We took part in a salsa class whilst there and it was great fun. It is in a great location, a couple of mins walk to the beach and there are lots of restaurants close by. Puerto Viejo is a 5 min ride away by taxi, we mainly used Uber which were quick and well priced. The owners Kariliy and Joel were great hosts and by the time we left we felt like part of the family. Would definitely recommend this little gem if you want to be close to nature surrounded by genuine, lovely people."

"This hotel is AMAZING! All the employees are so kind and helpful. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel or visiting their restaurant. My sister and I stayed at this hotel about a year ago and to this day I still think about what a positive amazing experience this place was. Also there were a handful of employees at this hotel who made the experience so much better. Leandro, Frayman, Jose, and Yusmary were so great and always so accommodating. They also are so thoughtful and great people in general! I love this place!"

"Hi. Just got back to Poulsbo, WA. Now wondering why we didn't stay longer in CR!! Below is our 2025 review for Tasty Dayz Hostel. This year (2026) we stayed 7 nites again, & had a great time. So if you are wondering about our 2026 review read the 2025 review below. We would say the same things!!! Review of Tasty Dayz Hostel Reviewed Feb 15, 2025 My wife & I just completed a 7 nite stay at Tasty Dayz Hostel, & want everyone to know how much we enjoyed it! Quite frankly, not enough time. Bryton & Lydia, and their great team made us feel so welcomed. The accommodations we had were very, very comfortable; 2 double beds, ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower. This unit had AC, & that was nice to be able to cool down after a hike, or day at the beach. Right outside our room was a large-like lobby area that was accessible for 2 other rooms, too There were comfy chairs, & tables to sit around. Great place to kick back, converse with others, or read. Another highlite for us was the open-air communal kitchen. Plenty of pots & pans to cook with. Ample refrigeration for your groceries, & 2 stoves. Every morning there was a big pot of Costa Rican Coffee made for your enjoyment. We liked this area, too, as we got acquainted with other guests from all over. We would share our different experiences, & we learned a lot. The grounds are kept in tip-top shape, & housekeeping would always ask how things were. Now about Tasty Waves Cantina. Wow, the food is great, the staff is so attentive, & it is a center for some fun activities; trivia, karaoke, & more. The 2 combined, the hostel and cantina, made it the perfect place for us. Plus, right next door you could take the tour of chocolate making; you are not far from the Jaguar Rescue Center; close to Puerto Viejo; and across the street the best beach in our opinion!!! My wife and I like to support small businesses, and especially small businesses that give back to their community, and these businesses do just that! You can tell we are planning our return!
