"Who comes near Daun and seeks an unslaughterable accommodation in price/performance, which is guided to detail by lovely people with love, is here "at Heines" absolutely perfectly located. You should not be misled by the age of the building ....The owners have widely modernised it. Both the rooms and the bathroom are equipped with everything you can expect in a good hotel. Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed now, as it is likely to be increasingly difficult to get staff, but the arrangement with the hotel directly opposite with regard to the very well-sorted breakfast buffet there is excellent. We have been very well welcomed all the days and will be happy to come back"

"Our group (five cyclists, one hiker) spent six perfect days at the Hotel Zur Neroburg. With foresight, I chose Thursday and Tuesday morning, as the kitchen is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; alternative dinner options are, of course, available for hotel guests. We enjoyed wonderful bike rides in all four directions, through the Eifel: a paradise for sporty cyclists and e-bikes! The hotel is excellently run by the Müllerstein family. We immediately felt at home. I chose the hotel because of its perfect location for us cyclists and because of the cuisine. What junior and head chef Kevin Müllerstein and his team offer is exceptional. The half-board menu is of the finest quality, haute cuisine; all courses are prepared with love and variety, and the service is excellently organized. The price-performance ratio (2024: €80 per person in a double room for half-board) is unimaginably good. During our sometimes strenuous bike rides of 110 km - 135 km, we looked forward to the evenings when we were pampered by the kitchen. A special feature of the kitchen: every six weeks, fish and seafood are offered alternately. For a small surcharge on half board, we tried the lobster, gutted and served with fantastic sauces and side dishes, and the "Paella 2.0," with all the ingredients freshly prepared, of course—a cuisine like in the land of milk and honey! Summary: I wouldn't have thought such quality restaurants with such relatively reasonable prices still existed today. In the Eifel region, at the hotel-restaurant "Zur Neroburg," these culinary desires can still be fulfilled."

Hotel Rieder ★★★

"Good location and the bathroom was lovely, the floor in my room creaked a lot so I had to walk around the outside so as not to disturb other guests. There was an issue on night 1 when some noisy residents in another block that started around midnight, by 01:45 I had had enough and went to sort it myself. I informed the reception the following day as there were no staff on the premises once the kitchen/bar staff left around. I asked what should I have done in light of no staff and was told I could call the main hotel number and someone would pick up as they do an on call rota. The drinking area outside the entrance to the hotel was also a source of noise albeit once that was generally quite after 23:00 and it would depend on which side of the hotel your room was on. It was very warm during my stay but unfortunately no fans were available for guest use and although the rooms had great windows it was very hard to ventilate when there was no breeze outside. The pillows are far too soft, I asked for 2 extra and managed to fold them in two and by using all 3 pillows it was near to what one would expect for a UK guest. The hotel was very clean and the staff were all nice, the breakfast was nothing special and having only 1 small toaster was not really good enough to suit the number of guests. The car park at the rear was OK so long as guests were respectful on how they parked and they are additional parking a short distance down the street. In summary I don't think Hotel Rieder offered good value for money and I am sorry to say that I would not stay there again. I know they are plenty of positive reviews but I have reviewed as I found, single traveller wanting a decent night's sleep in a quite room."
