Hotel Sonar Bangla Sundarban

The resort was spacious with well landscaped gardens. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful. Food was good though not to five star standards. We did not use the pool, spa or other amenities. The trips available and the ability to book them online would have improved planning. An earlier start to breakfast would be helpful for guests setting out on boat trips at dawn. A resident naturalist would definitely improve the experience

Beautiful resort out of nowhere , right on the river Bank over looking the jungle . Well maintained property , it has a lof of facilities like gym , play areas both indoor and outdoor , an excellent swimming pool. Food is excellent. They orga ised our safari to the ***grove forest , it was simply superb. They have thier own luxury boat and naturalist also. In short its the most luxurios resort in sundarabans area and worth visiting

Really great experience in staying and lodging in the Sundarban national park. It’s a luxury resort in the Dulki island, definitely not a eco resort. Almost around 80 rooms in the resort is meant to be build up for the crowed. However the kitchen does not seem to be adequate. There is too much rush every day during breakfast and long queues in each station. This is a big risk during Covid times. We also faced the same during one of the dinner nights. As a matter of fact lunch on the first day of arrival could not be served to us, due to rush. However once served are very good quality and taste. No bar still onsite. Rooms are cleaned and very well decorated. One can feel the new and luxury feel in every room. The property has good places to roam around, bike around or to sit on the open spaces to have coffee and food. There are few natural water bodies inside the property, with some nice flowers. There is also evening programs on the open amphitheater. The resort is now providing tour boats to the reserved park. They have a connected jetty to board. The approach from Kolkata is bit tedious, where you need to park your vehicle at Gadkhali and then take a private boat of 1.5hrs to reach the resort. However the ride is quite picturesque by itself. Overall it’s a good stay, at probably the best resort in Sundarbans. Just that you need to carefully navigate on the meals based on rush.

The property itself is gorgeous. Their ala carte food is good but buffet sucks. It can easily be a 5 star property. But the hotel's service is extremely bad. The whole trip had something or the other go wrong at all times but I will only mention the points that were the highlights. Shared boat - I had made the booking in October for a stay over Chris**as. When I got there I found out that they did not have a separate full day cruise for me even though I had been requesting since the booking. Their coordinator, Mr Siddharth Banerjee, never confirmed my booking even though I had been continuously asking for it, even in his new SIM. I had to share the boat with another family. Mr Banerjee never owned up to any of the mistakes and never took responsibility. Quality of boat - lowest possible class. There was no seat in the toilet, people who owned the boat, there clothes were hanging to dry No receipt for government charges - They charged me various charges claiming it was to be paid to the government. But they never gave me any receipts. I had seen one of the receipt at the boat and had clicked a picture of it and even that was not given to me. Chicken instead of paneer - I had ordered food in the room after a day of boat ride but I got chicken instead of paneer. They did try to replace the dish but by this time I was so tired of things going wrong at every step of the way that I didn't want anything. Excess billing - They charged me Rs. 400 for a local swimming costume. I was okay with this. What was hilarious was that they charged 18% GST on top of it, claiming it was a luxury item. Actual GST is 12% on swimming costumes. I have no idea how they qualified a locally made swimming costume as luxury item. They charged me excess for the sunset cruise but they did change the bill for that. I had escalated all these issues to Mr Shantanu, the operations ***ager, but he was not able to prevent these incidents from recurring after the first time. I also escalated all this to Mr Satyam, their head, on our last day and all he had to say was all this should not have happened to me. After this kind of experience I am never going to this place. I am also concerned about the rest of the properties under the same brand.

Very clean and spacious place. Food was very tasty except the desserts. Being in the sweet ruled state, their sweets and ice creams need to be improved. Good hospitality, all staff were cordial, well maintained lawns and clean rooms with all amenities. The location is wonderful, a contrast life between inside the resort and its life outside the compound wall. As a family we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days stay. The private boat safari to the Tiger reserve was well organised. For sure, will recommend to stay here for family and friends.

We have booked the package with Tourist Hub India, they have organized the trip in an excellent ***ner. I recommend other to avail their service.

The resort is nice but needs lot of improvement. 1) The room rate was exorbitant but lacked basic full mirror - room lighting very poor, no hooks in bath area to hang clothes.., no tool with small dressing mirror... 2) the first night of our stay - the power fluctuation was severe - every half hour lights went off completely and this happened the entire evening - not safe to leave kids alone in pool or anywhere if complete blackout 3) It was ***datory to choose "Buffet" option in lunch time - which turned costly and waste of money - 700/900 when we were in a group of 15 - though festive period but why this loot ? ***y are light eaters these days and who wants to eat a buffet for 2 days of stay ?? Very wrong policy by ***agement 4) One has to take half day or full day safari - but this is absolutely useless - only minting money - we paid almost 15000 rs for half day safari which was very tiring - no food option on ride - ride has only awful plastic chairs which was not worth sitting for so long HOtel despite request - told us a big NO when we asked if breakfast could be packed as we had to leave at 8 am - as kids and most of us were not hungry - the safari was arranged by hotel so as most hotels do - in such cases they pack brekfast and give - but here we were told that they will charge us for whatever they pack !! This was highly ridiculous and not acceptable 5) The swimming pool water was very very dirty and doesnt seem it is cleaned at all !! 6) The only good thing was beauty of the resort and very quick service 7) But since its pet friendly place - there are dog poops left behind all around - my feet got smudged in one place and even my shoes with i t !! They should have cleaners all around to clean dog poops !! Not worth the money as rates of room, safari and food very high - compared to similar resorts!!

IT WAS MY AMAZING EXPERIENCE TO STAY AT SONAR BANGLA, SUNDORBAN ON MY RECENT VISIT IN OCT'23. THE ROOM IS VERY SPACIOUS & NEAT & CLEAN & THE FOOD THEY SERVED THAT IS REALLY INCREDIBLE. THE ENTIRE STAFF OF THIS HOTEL ARE VERY WELL BEHAVED & CARING AT ALL TIME. SPECIALLY MR. SAMIK PALODHI & MR. SANTANU BOTH ARE REALLY A GOOD HU*** BEINGS & ALWAYS THEY HELP US WITH A BIG SMILE. THANK YOU SONAR BANGLA. MEET YOU AGAIN.

Hospitality,Food,Staff all were excellent,one person to name is Samik Palodhy in Restaurant was very humble to meet to. The food taste and quantity was rare to be seen. The property is designed very well, the rooms,infrastructure is excellent
