Avoncourt Lodge

This really is a lovely place, with very friendly and helpful staff, an excellent breakfas served in a sunny room with good views. Avoncourt has a good location near the town centre (5 mins walk). The owner is delightful, and there is a well-stocked library.

Had a few days away and stayed one night at Avoncourt Lodge as I was travelling through Devon and Cornwall. Alison is a very friendly and helpful host and gave lots of advice about places to eat etc in the town. The breakfast was lovely, kept me going until the eve lol I left one of my charging plugs behind and Alison posted it for me no bother and it arrived home before I did The rooms are somewhat dated but that adds to the charm of the venue, everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It’s a bit of a windy road to get to the venue with some very sharp and narrow turns but the views are superb out over the town

Second time 6 of us have stayed here and very glad we came back. Alison and Heather were very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond in the way they looked after us. Great breakfast, so much choice. There are a few public rooms so it was easy for us all to get together rather than just be in our bedrooms when we were there. Lovely location at the end of a no through road. Yes it's up a hill, but that's Ilfracombe for you, and there's a coastal walk right next door, needed to walk off all the food! Hope to be back!

The bad points: we had to go home. The good points: easy to book, very friendly owner, very comfy ensuite room, complete with a television, toiletries and towels, tea and coffee in your room and the comfiest bed I've slept in in a very long time. - Owner very knowledgeable of the area, and made very sound recommendations that we followed and didn't regret. - Bar on site - Breakfast included: really fresh and delicious fruit, yogurt, tea, coffee, orange juice, toast with incredible local honey, a full English- all included with the room. Superb! - ideal location for walking to towns, along coastal paths, down to hidden coves, beaches and harbours. - Big icing on the cake for me was: we were able to take our beloved dog. £6 a night to take the pup with us- and he even got a sausage for breakfast too! - I can't recommend it enough. There's parking too.

Lovely place - stayed here for a couple of nights as we were attending a wedding at The Tunnels. Alison and her team were brilliant from minute one of our arrival even giving us a lift down to the wedding venue so we didn't have to walk their ourselves. Room was very clean and breakfast was lovely with lots of choice - would highly recommend

We had a lovely two night stay whilst we were walking the coast path. The host was very friendly, welcoming and helpful with restaurants. The room was comfortable and breakfast was delicious, setting us up to walk the coast path. Excellent, quiet location.

The place is cosy, peaceful with lovely and friendly people and the breakfast is lovely too. it is better to go to the harbour for the shops rather than the high street. It is a perfect place to relax too.

Enjoyed a very hospitable welcome from Alison and her team at the Avoncourt, nothing was to much trouble for then and was given sound advice, room was immaculately clean with a beautiful view out to sea, nice walk into town where you can find plenty to do all in all a great place to stay and I will definitely choose the Avoncourt the next time I visit Ilfracombe Philip Sept 2023

Lovely friendly lodge. Spotlessly clean and lovely breakfast too. Within walking distance to harbour and shops. Brilliant coastal walks and beautiful scenery. Will definitely recommend this property.
