We booked Sinclairs Hotel in Ooty while on our way to the hill station. The property is located just after the Chocolate Factory — follow the road behind it. Be warned though: once you pass the Chocolate Factory, the road condition deteriorates significantly — narrow lanes with potholes (or should I say craters?). Still, the journey is worth it. The hotel is located below Doddabetta Peak (the highest in Tamil Nadu), and the entrance is beautiful and breezy — thanks to the valley air current flowing upwards. There's a security guard to guide you for parking, and everything felt safe and clean. We reached around 8:40 PM and were attended by a night-shift staff member at the reception. He was extremely polite, respectful, and had excellent communication skills. It took about 15 minutes to complete the check-in and documentation, which was reasonable given the hour. Sinclairs feels more like a hostel-style hotel — lots of rooms catering to both families and bachelor groups. Despite high occupancy, the staff was prompt, courteous, and very helpful. Our room was on the smaller side but surprisingly well-designed and spacious. TV was working Internet was fast Bed was comfy Pillows plush Comforter warm enough for the chilly 13°C night Bathroom layout was smart and efficient The only downside was the semi-transparent glass partition between the washroom and the room — around 80% was frosted, but the remaining 20% was visible. While it may suit couples, it’s not ideal for everyone. Unfortunately, the staff confirmed it was part of the design — I hope management considers adding privacy options in the future. The next morning’s buffet breakfast was the cherry on top. While it didn't match 5-star hotel spreads, it definitely exceeded expectations — closer to a high-quality 4-star offering. Delicious and satisfying. Checkout was seamless — literally took about 15 seconds. Overall: A fantastic experience with minor hiccups. Thank you, Sinclairs, for the warm hospitality! Would definitely recommend.
