Malakkarethu House

We stayed at Malakarethu House in March 2024. As soon as i walked into the property, I found myself at home. The home is well designed and well decorated, with nicely appointed sitting areas on both levels containing essential icons of historic and cultural significance. Every artifact in the areas has a story to tell about how life used to be (and still is, in certain areas) in Kerala. Walking into your personal room, you will find it no less comfortable than a Hyatt or a Marriott. The rooms are all airconditioned, which made it so much more easier to sleep in the 36 degree (C) humid weather. The property itself is lush with trees and shrubs and a well maintained grassy lawn. Sitting in the gazebo at night, enjoying the mild breeze and listening to the occasional "gobble gobble" of the resident turkey fowl, while the on-site staff attend to your every craving with quick and creative authentic local delicacies was quite a different experience from looking at a menu and calling room service. In the evenings, we simply open a gate behind the property and climb down several steps on to the banks of the Pamba river. The water level was waist deep at most, and was clean enough to convince us to take a few dips and just bobble around, watching the sun set behind the coconut palms. The proximity to the fabled Aranmula Parthasarathy temple (in fact, the property is right inside the perimeter gate of the temple) made it easy for us to visit the temple easily at any time of the day. This temple is where the famous snake boat races are held. Jojy, the owner of the property, is a very unassuming gentle***, is involved with every aspect of running the place. Kind and compassionate to everyone including his staff, he can be relied on for excellent recommendations as well as tips on how to make the best of your stay here, or elsewhere in the region. When leaving, he made some great suggestions on unique food items to purchase to take with us. Thank you for making this a memorable experience. Bottom line, this is one of God's own abodes in God's own Country.

We stayed at this place from 14th March to 18th March. It was an excellent and memorable experience. Rooms were neat, clean and well maintained. Food is par excellence. It was a great experience in Kerala cuisine for all of us. Thoroughly enjoyed the Kerala food served. I really appreciate the passion of the host Mr. Jojy. His total involvement in the property is what makes this place stand out. The Pampa river flows right behind this property. This is a eco friendly property and is the right place for one looking for a quiet, peaceful holiday with homely & healthy food. Food was also customised with regard to variety & taste. Overall it has been a Great holiday experience for us.

Its is a beautiful homely abode in the midst of all elements of nature. Well maintained neat spaces, welcoming host and caretaker of the property. Good connectivity to all the places ,definitely recommended for solo and group stays. A Special thanks and love to Mr. Jogy. This is an excellent home stay property to spend your holidays. It is very close to the Parthasarathi Temple with a well connectivity from MC road. The courtyard of this property offers a tranquil a**osphere with an unpolluted cool breeze that touches the ripples of river pamba flowing right in front of it. The owner of this property is a jovial personality who ensures a high degree of hospitality to the guests. Crew members are also very friendly and polite to the guests. The food was very freshly cooked and so tasty. Owner told me that the chef is very good at preparing biryani with his own signature recipe. Definitely next time I will get my hands on it. The property is surrounded with some good places of touristic attributes that includes aranmula mirror ***ufacturing unit (traditional method, original GI tagged aranmula mirror can be purchased from here), mural paints art gallery, Konni elephant kraal (apprx. 35 Km), bowl boat ride at Adavi (a must try, apprx 13 Km from Konni). A wonderful place to enjoy a serene ambience with an essence of unalloyed hospitality. I suggest this property for your holidays with family.

When i was looking for place to stay around Chenganur to stay for 5 nights, i happened to come across this beautiful abode located on the banks of Pampa river and surrounded with beautiful vegetation. We had an exotic stay at this place with my family and parents and mother-in-law. Jojy uncle (owner) was very helpful and made our stay comfortable. Had a pleasure of chatting up with him every evening and my parents also had good time interacting with him. His collections of old artifacts is something to really look forward to. My parents could remember and share every little joy of their childhood looking at old tools and aritifacts at this house. Even the trees and fruits brought lots of old memories for them. Ambience is great and location too is accessible to all places. Homely food cooked and served with love during our stay made this entire trip more joyful. Thanks to Lucas achayan, Martin and Nikhil who served meals and helped us during our stay. Really recommend this place for stay with family in case looking to stay around Chenganur or Tiruvalla.

This place was one of my favorite stays during our Kerala trip! It's located in a quaint village with more of a traditional vibe. Things are pretty low-key, so it's wonderful for a getaway or to focus on work. That doesn't mean there isn't stuff to see though. You can take a walk through surrounding gardens, go on a boat ride, visit the Parthasarathi Temple, and/or see how the town's famous Kannadis are made! The hosts were a highlight of our stay. Jojy welcomed us warmly and immediately made plans for what we could do during our stay. Tenney quickly addressed any needs we had in the house and answered any questions. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would go back when I am next in Kerala!
