Bassiviere Barn Chic

Simply amazing! Ilse is a lovely host and the gites are perfect! We had everything we could need! We stayed in apartment 3 which has great views of the valley. Especially in the evening the sunset is breathtaking! The pool is very clean and the sunloungers are comfortable. It’s nearby a lot of stunning medieval villages as well as some cities for shopping but definitely no high street tourism which we really liked. The restaurant of Bassiviere is wonderfull as well! We had a lovely dinner as well as a chill and delicous lazy lunch on sunday. We had a great stay and will definitely come back!

We hadn’t been to Bassiviere for some time so we’re looking forward to it. O my 4 tables of diners and a very nice duo playing music. It is 2 or 3 courses and you choose fish or meat for the main. I chose fish. They served me lamb then forgot the desert but still charged me until I pointed out the mistake. This whole thing took over 2.5 hours which wasn’t so bad as we had a quiet baby and were enjoying the music. What’s it like when it’s full!?

Do not go here - terrible service - overpriced food of very poor quality and very very slow service - don’t be seduced by the location - also I was told they catered for Gluten free and sent an email in advance, no Gluten free

This was our first visit to Bassiviere restaurant but sadly probably our last. The setting is lovely and our waitress was very friendly and greeted us upon arrival which was a refreshing change. However, we were disappointed with our meal. We had no idea of the price before we arrived but were happy to pay a bit more than usual as it was our 34th wedding anniversary. We were informed lunch was a formula and the cost was 39,50 which before eating we were OK about. However, what let it down for us was the limited choice and the quality. There were only two choices of starter - cucumber gazpacho (cold soup) or goats cheese salad. Mains choice was duck or a vegetarian dish and desserts either panna cotta or a rhubarb type pie. A mise en bouche was served at the beginning and there was a glass of champagne served inbetween courses. The goats cheese salad was nice but neither of us liked the very hard nut served in the salad. We both had duck which was average and served with only rocket and a few pototoes, overcooked and a bit tough. Panna cotta was very hard set and the rhubarb came with squirty cream out of a tin and not much taste to it. All in all I know we can go out for lunch elsewhere and be offered any type of salad, duck & chips and a dessert for around 15 euros so not sure where they come up with 39,50 for an additional mise en bouche and a glass of champagne? A real shame because its a lovely setting and they had live music arrive as we were finishing so it could have been a very pleasant afternoon had the food been better for the price we paid.

We have just finished our second dinner in the Bassiviere Restaurant and our first negative impression was even topped: the place is really very nice and the waitress is extremly friendly and nice. BUT: the owners are just unfriendly or maybe just ignorant and the food is completely overpriced. We had one starter to share and ordered a small salad with this starter (one single fig filled with gorgonzola, which was very good) and had 30€ on the bill for just one fig and a very small side salad. Also the mains are overpriced. Really a pitty, such a nice place with owners who are obviously not interested in their guests (no hello, no anything) and too high prices. So no recommendation, there are much better places in the area with so nice staff and owners.

Wat een heerlijke plek! Je voelt je hier meteen welkom en thuis en alle stress vloeit uit je lijf. De appartementen zijn prachtig ingericht en aan alles is gedacht. Het kleinschalige karakter en de luxe uitvoering maakt dit een echt pareltje.

We hebben enorm genoten! Ilse is een hele leuke en vriendelijke gastvrouw. We verbleven in appartement 3, dat een prachtig uitzicht op de vallei heeft. Vooral 's avonds is de zonsondergang adembenemend! Het zwembad is erg schoon en de ligstoelen zijn comfortabel. Het ligt vlakbij veel prachtige middeleeuwse dorpjes en ook enkele steden om te winkelen, maar zeker geen toeristische winkelstraat, wat we erg leuk vonden. Het restaurant van Bassiviere is ook geweldig! We hebben heerlijk gedineerd en op zondag een ontspannen en lekkere lunch gehad. We hebben een geweldig verblijf gehad en komen zeker terug!

We zijn hier na 4 jaar nog ns komen eten en helaas is dit enorm tegengevallen.... we waren met 2 gezinnen (9 personen) en we werden naar lange tafels achteraan het restaurant gebracht. Men rekent op jobstudenten en er is geen enkele verantwoordelijke aanwezig. We kregen ons aperitief: aperolspritz zonder ijsblokje, spritz apero van het huis zonder ijsblokje. We kregen ons eten; tonijn met patatjes en sla: de tonijn en vlees werden gebracht maar toen was het 10 min. wachten op de sla en aardappelen. Blijkbaar moest men bij de steak apart nog groentjes en frietjes bijbestellen maar werd niet vermeld bij de opname van de bestelling. Er werd één pasta pesto gebracht van de 3 en deze was duidelijk het onderste uit de pot want deze dreef in de olie. de andere 2 kwamen en waren veel droger en ook een stuk kleiner. Er is nooit gevraagd om iets te drinken tijdens het eten dus het bleef bij onze aperitief die we tijdens ons maaltijd konden opdrinken. We hebben toen gevraagd om met de verantwoordelijke te praten maar helaas die waren niet aanwezig. Een oudere dame heeft haar duizendmaal geëxcuseerd en bood ons een (koude) koffie en ijsje aan. Zeer jammer dat zo een mooie zaak volledig uit handen wordt gegeven aan jobstudenten (die hun best doen) en alle klachten mogen incasseren. Dit was helaas de laatste keer dat we daar gaan eten. Ik lees dat er nieuwe eigenaars zijn en dat is dus de reden van de achteruitgang van deze mooie zaak met super ligging. Heel jammer!

Le cadre est magnifique, l'ambiance musicale Extra, l'accueil est froid, le service moyen où on vous sert la bière avec des glaçons. Avec un menu unique à 39,50 euros, on s'attend à beaucoup mieux dans l'assiette. On a l'impression d'avoir été dupé. Je n'y remettrai plus les pieds.
