It was lovely. Staff were friendly and accommodating and arranged airport pickup. The breakfast was lovely as well as room service. Will definitely stay here again if visiting Jhb. 💕❤️ The rooms were clean although amenities needed to be requested suxh as robes, slippers, shower gel, shampoo etc - not really nice after a long flight. As well as water, so if this could be provided first that would make it even great.

Все отели были заполнены, в отеле находилось много дипломатов и телохранителей, но они отлично справились с ситуацией. Рекомендуется для семейных и деловых поездок из-за прекрасного вида, чистых номеров, отличного ресторана, доброжелательного персонала. Расположен в хорошем районе и рядом с торговым центром Hydepark.

Я останавливался в этом отеле несколько недель назад с девятью друзьями, мы приехали из Штатов. Это наш первый визит в Южную Африку. Дружелюбный персонал, сотрудники стойки регистрации встречают вас с теплой улыбкой. Очень эффективный процесс регистрации. У нас были современные, красивые, чистые и просторные номера. Прекрасная атмосфера в отеле, действительно приятная атмосфера, хорошая энергия. Я с нетерпением ждал завтрака, вы действительно получаете то, за что заплатили. Обязательно вернусь, отличное расположение, торговый центр прямо рядом с отелем.

The Hyde Park Hotel is a fantastic, world-class hotel - backed by an incredible team who are warm & friendly. I have to compliment the entire hotel team - from the moment you arrive, to the reception team, porters, security, restaurant and housekeeping teams. My room was beautiful, clean, comfortable & well-appointed. The hotel is extremely conveniently located, has safe & secure parking, and is connected to the Hyde Park Shopping Center for everything you need. The hotel also has reliable infrastructure back-up and good internet for business purposes. Thank you to the whole Hyde Park Hotel Team for a fabulous experience! My experience at this hotel was so unpleasant, I checked in & realised I was booked into a room with single beds instead of a Queen bed, I arrived at 14:00. I asked to be changed to a room that I initially booked with a Queen bed and I was told this was what the travel agency booked for me but mind you I had an option to change and my needs be catered for, The travel agency called the hotel to arrange the change. I was then told that I could be changed to a new room but after 17:00….3 hours later I call to find out since it was 17:00 already, the gentleman had not gotten back to me and I’m told he has knocked off, without even an update about my request which he was handling. The lady on duty nonchalantly then says she will change me….I wait for another hour for concierge to be sent for me to be changed to the room across the one with single beds and when I walked in around 14:00 after check-in, this room had been cleaned, I saw the cleaning lady walk out. My partner had to go and ask them why they made us wait so long and the lady said to him, there is 1 man assigned to assist all guests and he was bust assisting other guests when we waited over 4 hours just to be changed to a room that was available? I was booked at Southern Sun Hyde park the previous night prior to this horrendous experience from Southern Sun Sandton & the experience at Hyde park was top tier from the front desk to all parts of the hotel, the restaurant staff especially stole my heart at Hyde park but the overall experience at SS Sandton was horrible, even upon exit the security at the gate refused to let my partner and I out a back entrance when he could clearly see we were pulling a trailer. Instead of being polite to explain he just fought my partner verbally. Our overall experience was just not pleasant. I do not recommend this hotel at all. The food was also just not up to standard, the restaurant staff didn’t seem eager to serve us…I have no idea what the problem is at Southern Sun Sandton but I am really dissatisfied and will never be booking with them again. For a great experience with a Southern Sun, rather book Southern Sun Hyde Park!

Very convenient to the shopping mall and the rest of Johannesburg. Staff were friendly, WiFi was erratic but the beds were comfortable. Plenty of restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

Had to book a last business trip to Johannesburg but due to the BRICS Summit, the company preferred hotels were full and the Southern Sun in Hyde Park was the only one in the required area with availability. I now know why and understand why they are not on our preferred list! The stay was for 8 nights (which included weekend) and after explaining my story to the check-in agent, she assured me that I would get a lovely room and would want to stay with them in future. The room was on the south side, it was dark and cold (even though was really hot at the time) and faced a brick walls. The room location aside, the hotel is tired and in need of a serious make-over and modernising. Although it was kept fairly clean, its tiredeness makes it look grubby. And the drain smell was unbearable at times. Even the air freshener outside the the washrooms on the M-level didn't do the trick! You'll need your own in the room though. On a positive note, I experienced Johannesburg to avoid having to go the dreaded hotel room! The hotel is centrally located with ease of access to the shopping mall. The view of the sunsets from the bar are also spectacular but no need to subject ourselves to staying at the hotel to make use of the nice facilities.

The hotel is directly connected to the shopping mall, which is very convenient. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The included breakfast was good and a plus. I liked the spacious gym and the pool area. However, the rooms have not been updated for about 15 years and the TVs are simply not up to today's standards. Also, the wifi connection was extremely poor and unstable, which is bad for working. In addition, one lady at reception was not really accommodating and friendly, but the rest of the staff were.

We went back to this hotel 10 years after our first stay. Still feels like home. We really enjoyed our stay. Except for the breakfast which was not as furnished or good as in the past. Everything was perfect. The mall next door is a plus even though it doesn't have a lot of brands represented. We highly recommend it anyway.

Visited this little gem for lunch on my first day in South Africa from the UK. I believe the gentleman who served us was named 'Siphiwe' - he provided tremendous service, was very attentive and kindly turned up the heating for us. Huge asset to the company. Food was very tasty.
