"Absolutely lovely place for our Anniversary weekend. If you’re a foodie like we are, it’s a must. This historic inn dating from 1750 is in the beautiful Yarrow valley, between Selkirk & Peebles in the Scottish Borders . The rooms are comfortable, cosy & so quiet. Looking out over the surrounding green fields whilst the swallows wheeled around the rooftops was magical. With a choice of Tasting menu or a la carte, the quality & presentation of the food is excellent. Breakfast in the morning was just right with perfect scrambled egg The team at the Gordon Arms is so friendly - we felt at home right away."

"Stayed at the Glen Hotel with my 2 teenage children. The triple family room was spacious and the beds very comfortable, a double and 2 singles. The bedding was excellent and just what we needed after a very strenuous day. The shower room is compact but the water hot and plentiful. The in room refreshments were generous with biscuits for all and enough hot chocolate not to cause a dispute. The breakfast was excellent. Requests made the night before meant the table was laid with the juices and drinks we wanted and the best cooked breakfast I have enjoyed in a long time arrived promptly. We needed to leave at a specific time and the owners made sure there was no delay over breakfast. I stay in a lot of hotels around the country for my children's sporting events and The Glen Hotel was a lovely retreat to recharge for the next days competition and leave with a really lovely breakfast inside us. Thank you"

"Bit late in the day to post this, it was 8 months ago since my visit, but better late than never! My room was in the main building and I appreciated being upgraded to what I imagine to have been the honeymoon room, given the double shower, first time I’ve encountered one of those! Being in the winter the hotel was quiet and some of the public spaces were not open but I found that understandable and not an issue. Room was very comfortable, spotless and with views over well kept grounds. The public areas too were spotless and the staff friendly and attentive. Food was excellent, the steak in particular. Did have to pre-order the previous day though which was a bit unusual but again probably due to so few guests at the time of year and it wasn’t an issue for me. Third visit here , on the previous visit we stayed in one of the chalet style rooms in the grounds but unattached from the main building. Large room with access to private lawned area and great views over the surrounding countryside. One area I think could be improved - when I first visited the hotel a number of years ago, the room on the left as you enter was layed out as a lounge with comfortable settees, chairs, tables etc This has now been converted to dining so there is no real guest lounge, I did prefer the previous layout. Other than that, all excellent. Lo"

"We visited the County Hotel for an evening meal, and joined in with the regular pub quiz. Service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious, and we all found our favourites in an excellent menu. Food and drink was very well priced. The quiz was great fun with visitors and locals joining in. A great evening!"

"Абсолютно красивое место для нашего годовщинного уикенда. Если вы пищеваритель, как мы, то это обязательно. Этот исторический гостиничный дом с 1750 года находится в прекрасной долине Ярроу, между Селкирк и Пеблс в шотландских границах . Комнаты удобны, уютные и так тихие. Оглядываясь на окружающие зеленые поля, а поглощения, вращающиеся вокруг крыш, были магическими. С выбором меню "Вкус" или "ла-карте", качество и презентация пищи отлично.
