Kombo Beach Resort

We picked this hotel because it said that it had a complete refurbishment and only reopened very recently. When we arrived it was clear that reception and the pool area and all the public areas were newly refurbished. The first three blocks of accommodation also looked very smart and new. BUT we were put in the 4th block and on the third floor. And there is no lift. Our room was adequate, especially considering it's Africa. The bed was large and comfortable. Air conditioning worked well though on our last day it leaked. There was water pouring down the wall, all over our things and into electrical sockets! We immediately reported it to reception but nothing was done. We later told the cleaners and they got someone to fix it. The shower was hit and miss - good some days but cold on others! We opted not to go All Inclusive and were pleased we did. We had breakfast included and that was outstanding. We didn't need anything else until dinner and we enjoyed trying the different local restaurants. On our last day we were not leaving until 6pm and asked if we could pay to keep our room until 5pm as advertised. We were told in the morning that people would be checking into our room (we hadn't arrived until midnight when we checked in and the rooms were usually cleaned around 4pm) so we had to get out of our rooms and bring our luggage to reception. We were told that we could have a shower in another room so were able to sit by the pool. However when we went to take a shower and get changed we were shown back to our block, back to the 3rd floor, two doors from our room! The rooms were advertised as having tea and coffee facilities but though we had the tea/coffee etc there was no kettle for the entire week. All in all though, it is a beautiful hotel right on the beach. And all the staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it but I would upgrade the room - which we would have done if we hadn't been told that the whole place had been refurbished.

My wife and I stayed here 31/01/24-07/02/24. We arrived late due to flight delay and were greeted at reception and signed in. As we were late and on the all-inclusive plan, the kitchen had kept back a meal for us, which was quite nice. We had a standard room in block C, which, to be honest, was very outdated. One of the many yet to be refurbished. The next morning, after a decent breakfast, I asked to pay for an upgrade and that afternoon we moved into block A, room 147, overlooking the pool. The difference in standards was amazing - at first! We then noticed that the sliding bathroom door didn’t close fully as the door opening was bigger than the sliding door. Over the next week, I reported this to reception 4 times on separate occasions, nothing happened. Also, in the top right corner of the window to the balcony, I noticed a towel stuck to he window, this was stuck into a hole in the window. On the balcony, a glass safety panel was insecure. These all may be classed as cosmetic issues but also safety issues. As mentioned, we were on the all-inclusive plan. This was nowhere near ALL-inclusive. Yes, meals were included and there was a bar to use. The all-inclusive bar regularly ran out of white wine and on at least one occasion ran out of beer. We were told we could buy it at the other bar if we wanted it! On the positive side, the staff were great, especially Kaddy at the bar/restaurant and our room attendant, Bernard. The food was nice, albeit even better at Sunday brunch, when paying people from outside the hotel were invited. To be honest, the pool is good, the weather was great but we wouldn’t ever consider returning.

We stayed here for a week and we loved this beautiful hotel placed directly on the Beach . The staff here is so welcoming and the cleaning is very good. Breakfast buffet with the beachview is nice and recomendable. The lunch and dinner could be better, but go for the local dishes . But we would def come back if we were to visit the Gambia again😍

Excellent from checking in until leaving. Everything was exceptional. The manager and head of departments were always about and willing to chat to to both guests and staff. The staff were always ready to serve and help you. Cleanliness was also very good. Always wiping and mopping. Really recommend it . Thank you for a excellent stay

My stay in Kombo Beach has been really good. I stayed for 4 days. The pool is cool and the Kombo Beach has amazing views and is big enough. I used the gym couple of days and It has what It is needed. The people were always really nice to me and smiling ones, specially the waitress Aída and the marketing manager Cecile.

Arrived in the early morning hours. There wasnt a buffer to have food after a long journey as we have booked All inclusive for our stay. I understand as it is out of season. But they did provide a plate of chicken and chips - cold. Flavour was nice gesure was nice execution something to be desired. Only been here 3 days so far and enjoying the stay. I believe we are in the newly refurbished section of the hotel which I have to say is very clean an comfortable. We have a sea view room. They have many staff onsite constantly cleaning and always happy to help with a smile. The hotel is literally on the beach. So you literally roll out of bed onto the beach. The food I would say satisfactory quality. I wouldnt say its the best Ive had. But it is far from bad. Pleasantly surprised by the range of food they are able to provide. In terms of drinks they have a separate menu for all inclusive. So ask for that.

Check in was quickly,the room was really good comfortable bed an pillows,shower was great,our cleaner Aimee was amazing.special mention to manger and owner victor an malley,we found the food was amazing for Gambia,the soups were so tasty as was the spaghetti bolanaise,we had a great time as always,we stayed in room 101, we have been to Gambia many times this is far the best hotel we have stayed in for Gambia thank you again to all staff you are doing amazing job the service we received was 10/10:

what can i say, but very impress .A good job has been done renovating this beach front hotel to a very high standard The cleanliness of the hotel is superb .The Pleasantness of the staffs,receptionist, Security staffs, House keeping staffs,waitress and Waiters. They all make this Hotel a gem. Complimentary bottles of water in room,also tea and coffee . The lovely Art on the bed with flowers, always done by the cleaning lady,Comfortable bed except a good night sleep. As someone who has travelled widely i would definitely recommend this hotel. We stayed at kombo beach resort for the 1st time since the new management and renovation. The hotel looks amazing and very modern, unfortunately that is the only improvement. Having been to this hotel 2 times previously I was disappointed to see that all the old staff members that made this hotel so unique are no longer there. They have now staffed the hotel with a young crew of workers that are very polite and friendly but do not have that experience and enthusiasm and that person centred attention that the previous staff had mastered. Alot of the guests I spoke to duplicated my opinion and said they would not be returning to this hotel. Which is a great shame. The rooms are lovely and clean and the beds are comfortable. I had an opportunity to stay one night in a Premium room. The suite is amazing with very modern decor and great views of the beach and pool area, highly recommended. The breakfast is not great, hot food is luke warm We ate at the restaurant one evening the service was terrible and the food not great and the staff were too busy chatting to each other to even take our order or give us the bill at the end of the meal. This hotel needs the previous night manager 'Alpha' to return as he was seen every evening walking around speaking to every quest and making sure all staff were up to a great standard. Would I stay at Kombo beach resort again?????? The answer is 'yes' mainly for the fantastic location which is on a beautiful beach next to a great bar named "Dominoes", which offers great food, drinks, entertainment and good security. I do urge guest to leave the hotel and converse with the very friendly and lovely locals. Great holiday
