"I love Charlton house, it was really quirky. The way it has been styled is really unusual. It makes you feel like you're in a bit of a fantasy world with the little corridors and quirky little nooks and crannies. For me it fit the bill, it did the job that I needed but I understand for those people that do not get it on an offer and pay a lot of money to stay there I understand how they might say that it's a bit dirty a bit tired a bit grubby and needs a bit of TLC. There seemed to be one very sweet man that was running around doing pretty much everything and the rest of the staff were hidden behind doors or just not there. I'm not sure. There were staff present in the spa and they were lovely and helpful and kind. My little room was gorgeous and cute and cozy, and clean enough although tatty in places. For me I really had a nice day and I would definitely come back. The breakfast was extremely basic but I didn't have extremely high expectations, and I'm not really a breakfast person, so again it may not make the tick box for others but it did the job for me. "Thank you to all the staff for making us feel so special. Warm, cosy accommodation with high quality fixtures and fittings including toiletries, tea/coffee in room and yummy home made cookies! The bar and restaurant are typical Chickpea decor…toasty log fires, cosy corners, atmospheric candles and lovely furnishings. We had a delicious evening meal, lots of help choosing the wine and breakfast was also great, good choice of healthy or hearty dishes. "Very surprised to find Shepton Mallet has turned into a ghost town. 1 uninspiring pub at the bottom of the high street and a bar that look passable 1/2 way up. Then we came across the Shruberry.
