"Rooms nice and ours was big, it has a spa Bath but no bath luxuries supplied, receptionist was a pleasant lady. Arrived in the evening, during a heavy rain storm, after a long journey from UK. Was told no facilities at the hotel for lunch or dinner, no facilities in the room or at the hotel to get a coffee. It does not state this on its website only when you arrive. Was told we could go to the nearest village 8 Kms away to get a meal, the only decent restaurant there was closed and their were a few bars there, however none offered food. Got back to hotel to find the room we were in, the roof had leaked ( due to the torrential rain) and the floor was drenched….. we were shown another room which was much smaller and the corridor to that was flooded due to a leak in the roof over that. The second and third room was too small as we had a dog, so stayed in original room with bucket to collect the water and towels over the floor. Due to stay two nights, however, checked out the next morning and headed off and found a more acceptable hotel. The hotel situation is very rural, which is nice. The hotel offers an acceptable breakfast and that is it. The rooms should have tea and coffee making facilities as standard due to no availability any where else locally, these rooms are not cheap. The website needs to be more transparent. Maybe have a honest box so people could help themselves to drinks and maybe snacks and pay for them. Car parking isn’t on site it’s about 50 m away and unsecured. Across from the hotel is a poor dog that is tethered to a wall day and night by a metal chain and probably due to being so stressed, it barks routinely day and night, ear plugs needed as you hear it clearly in the rooms at the front. I spoke with the owner about our experience and lack of facilities, no service recovery was offered by him at that time, the next morning the receptionist took the cost of the dog staying which was a nice touch. For me this hotel needs to look at the lack of facilities it doesn’t offers, as it’s so remote more has to be available at the hotel. Over all I found it a disappointing experience."

"We were so impressed by our stay here! The staff were wonderful, unfailingly helpful and so friendly. Our room was extremely comfortable, everything spotlessly clean (shower was amazing!). Breakfast was excellent. We brought our car, (there's free off-street parking). Ramales itself is a great spot for hikers, close to caves, rock-climbing and hiking trails, but an hour's drive to Bilbao and Santander for day-trips, 15 minutes to the beaches of Laredo. The surrounding area is beautiful. Highly recommend!"

We hardly spent any time at the hotel because we were there for the Laredo festivities, but the breakfast was fantastic—everything was delicious. There was a good variety, and the best part was that they offered several types of milk to choose from. In my case, it was a great deal because they offered oat milk, soy milk, and lactose-free milk."
