Don’t let my title put you off. We were here for the last week of April, so the season hasn’t really kicked off in earnest yet. The place has some great facilities and there’s certainly enough to keep the kids entertained. So why one Dutch child decided that throwing gravel at our 2 very large dogs was the way to go, I’ve no idea. I persuaded him it was not a good idea. Or rather, Duke did. There is a collection of mobile home type accommodation, along with shepherd huts, canvas type 3 metre square sleeping pods and “tree houses.” This is basically a garden shed on stilts and I’m sure the novelty would wear off about 5 minutes after going to bed. There’s a couple of large areas to camp in with tents, but no electricity points if you plan on staying for a while. The water points are also a bit of a walk. There are about 80 caravan and motorhome pitches, 4 to a plot and sufficient room to put an awning up. We had a 6 metre caravan and an awning just as big and parked a Merc C Class estate next to the set up. BE WARNED!! The plots are quite tight to manoeuvre your caravan into, even more so if other plots are occupied. I insisted in trying to reverse into my spot and clipped the back quarter of the van on a thick metal tube, protecting the water pipe. The kerb also has a hell of a drop on some of the plots. Swallowing my pride, I had to uncouple and motor move it into the exact position needed. Temporary repair done to the van, till our return to UK in 75 days. The toilet block only had 4 showers and 4 toilet cubicles available as it is still out of season, but there was no hanging about at any point. Laundry facilities were good and just need a €4 token from reception. About 8 sinks for washing up pots and pans if needed. We just stuck with our caravan facilities without any dramas. Plumbed the water in permanently with a float valve container, but no grey water disposal to connect to. Meant wheeling the container to a water drain a couple of times per day. An inconvenience rather than a drama. The town of Sully Sur Loire is worth a visit, if only to see the chateau. It’s a 15 minute walk to the chateau and 10 mins further to the town centre. The market is set up “all day on Monday.” Translated, that means by 1400 most of it has gone and by 1530 it has all vanished. It’s a great place to set up base to see some nice places. Too many to name, but the local tourism website was very useful and gave us most of our ideas. Plenty of supermarkets to stock up on provisions and I found Super U to be really good. Everything you could wish for. About a 5 minute drive from the site. Out of the main entrance, turn right, then left at the roundabout and it’s a kilometre on your right. Good priced fuel station too. The only problem we encountered, is that a lot of the large shops and automated fuel stations are not geared up to pay by phone, so Apple Pay, starling and the like are not taken. Have a card or cash with you at all times. All in all, the site
