Kimpton Grand Roatan Resort and Spa

Our stay at Kimpton Grand Roatan was pretty nice, marked by a warm welcome, thoughtful gestures, and the kind of service that makes a getaway truly memorable. Right from the start, we felt valued as guests. The acknowledgment of our status (IHG platinum), the complimentary upgrade, and the welcome drink set the tone for a luxurious experience. The modern and tasteful decor of the newly opened hotel added to the overall sense of sophistication. The property exuded an upscale ambiance that immediately captured our attention. The infinity pool was a highlight, offering a perfect place to unwind with impeccable service. The spa facilities were truly impressive, boasting top-notch amenities and service. Our couples massage was a blissful experience, further enhancing the overall sense of relaxation. While the hotel excelled in many areas, our dining experiences presented a mixed bag. Our dinner at the upscale Alera restaurant left us somewhat disappointed. The lamb cuts, though flavorful, were notably small and overcooked, failing to match the expected value for the price. Similarly, the beef filet, though well-cooked, fell short in portion size. Breakfast at Alera had its highs and lows. The Honduran breakfast and coconut French toast were great. However, the souffle pancakes were a letdown, lacking the expected light and fluffy texture and instead resembling a dense cake (it was dense and dry, where the syrup was even not adequate to soften it). On the brighter side, dining at Sea Cat provided a more satisfying experience. The tacos, especially the asada and pork carnitas, were enjoyable. The well-cooked pork in the carnitas and the fantastic smash burger were highlights of our meals at Sea Cat. Kimpton Grand Roatan undoubtedly delivered on its promise of luxury and sophistication. From the gracious welcome to the outstanding spa facilities, the overall experience was exceptional. While the dining experiences at Alera left room for improvement, consider eating off the resort for a better experience. Even though we would stay at the Resort again, we would probably not eat at the resort. Lastly, I would like to shout out the bellman, specifically Cristopher Centeno. He was working on his birthday, yet was still dedicated to driving us where needed making us feel special. Ceasar at the sea cat and our other waiter whom I am forgetting his name (starts with an A I believe) were also great.

Absolutely fabulous 4-night stay at the Grand Kimpton, Roatan. We were upgraded to a suite (an innocent misunderstanding about room we had booked) - next time we’ll probably reserve a suite from the beginning - gorgeous room and fantastic layout. Best snorkeling we’ve had in years right off the hotel beachfront - also beautiful pool and grounds. Our massages were excellent (arrive early to take full advantage of the spa amenities!). We ate at all the restaurants and each was very good. It is hard to choose what we liked “best” - but the courteous and friendly staff was The Best — I tried to keep a list of their names bc Every Person was really above and beyond in warm professionalism. We did not leave the property during this, our first time visit - it was a perfect place to relax and unwind. A special shout out to resort manager, Paloma Martinez - you are doing a superb job!

I spent a night here with my aunt on our way to Utila and it was exceptional. The service was unparalleled and the facilities and accommodations are gorgeous! While everyone was wonderful a few people made our trip extra special. First and foremost Christopher who picked us up on the golf cart while we were in the bungalow and greeted us with our welcome cocktails was amazing! The perfect mix of friendly and professional. Josh is one of the hardest working guys on the property. Dinner on the beach with our server Yenin was one of the best meals and service I’ve had and as a New Yorker I’m use to exceptional service. He was top notch. Treated us like “family” even before he realized we were staying at the property. Last but definitely not least was Stanley. Stanley helped make up our sofa bed and literally had my aunt and I cracking up. What an energetic and life loving young man. He was so patient when I tried to help and was clearly just getting in the way. Let me not forget sweet Shamika at the front desk and our breakfast server Rebecca. Lovely young ladies. Most importantly I would like to say everyone was phenomenal and this hotel was money well spent. I do hope IHG is taking care of their workers as well as their workers are taking care of the guests. Thank you all for the memories and hospitality.

We stay in Gran Roatan resort, a very expensive resort, they forgot to do our bed, till we told them so at the evening. Attention is not what you paid for, and they should have captain to manage the waiters and personal.

Four adults stayed mid April in a 2 bedroom condo on the top floor. Booked directly with the hotel online. All agreed that the design of the hotel buildings, public spaces, and grounds was beautiful. I never swim in hotel pools as I prefer the beach. However, the infinity pool was lovely and uncrowded as there were not many guests at this time of year. Nice public beach right in front of the hotel with fantastic snorkelling. Over the week my family explored the reef and saw spotted rays , octopus, in addition to many kinds of fish. The diving was excellent also. The hotel beach was roped off from the public beach. No problem getting chairs, again likely due to the time of year we were there. Great smash burger at the beach restaurant. Buffet breakfast offered until 11:00am at USD 30.00 per person offered a great selection. Good complimentary coffee every morning in the lobby. We also enjoyed the complimentary cocktail hour, where we watched the sun go down. Some nights there was a sunset gathering on the beach- amazing view. Very high level of service was consistent. All of the staff- front desk, shuttle drivers, pool, beach and restaurant- were attentive, warm, and helpful. Very impressed. Byron at the pool was fantastic. Our condo unit was large, clean, well-equipped, and nicely decorated. Huge balcony with nice views. Tip- if you rent a condo unit try to stop at Eldon's grocery store on the way to the hotel to pick up groceries. There is a small grocery store close to the hotel with limited selection. Toured the spa- beautiful- next time! We were all so impressed with the Kimpton Grand Roatan. Already thinking of returning next year.

What a wonderful experience. While the property and accommodations are beautiful, it’s the staff that makes the experience. The beach/grill staff, specifically Jimmy, Caesar, Carlson and Willard, went over and above to care for our family. Every single day. We would come back to this property just for them. Additionally, Witsell and Emma at the front desk made sure all our questions were answered. They were prompt and responsive always. And a shout out to Percy - we loved him. Looking forward to our next visit here.

I struggled with what to rate this property. The hotel itself is lovely -- very large rooms with balconies overlooking the ocean (my room was entry level and had a separate bedroom, full kitchen, large balcony and a water cooler (nice touch)); a beautiful pool; large, well-equipped gym; nice spa; and good restaurants. If I reviewed the hotel in a vacuum, I would give it 5 stars. But the hotel is very expensive (when you add in resort fees and taxes, it is well over $700 a night for an entry level room if you prepay - more if you don't). And for that cost, I expect a large private beach, a tub in the bathroom, and enough chaise lounges for the number of guests. The Kimpton, though lovely was on a long (but not wide) public beach filled with other hotels all butting up against one another. There were tons of people and not a lot of space. And there were a lot of security guards guarding the property at the beach area, which made me feel slightly uncomfortable. Additionally, the hotel does not have enough chaise lounges and all were reserved by early rising guests by the time I got down to the pool r beach at 10am. And, as large as the bathroom is in the room it only has a shower and no bath. Move this hotel to a private beach and add chaises and I would happily pay the $700 for the room/night. But as it is, I would much rather got a resort in Hawaii, Mexico, or the Caribbean and have a more relaxed, private, luxurious experience.

The Grand Roatan is absolutely beautiful. What made it extra special, though, was the wonderful staff. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted at the reception and offered a delicious cold pineapple drink. We enjoyed many island activities based on the recommendations of Concierge Lea. After asking us about our interests, she booked tours which we greatly enjoyed. We received an enthusiastic greeting from Lea every day of our stay. We stopped by the Sea Cat several times during our vacation. While the food was very tasty, we especially looked forward to our interaction with server Cesar. He has such a genuine welcoming way about him. When visiting the Grand Roatan, you'll be well taken care of by the staff, especially these two excellent employees.

We decided to head down to the Kimpton Grand Roatan to celebrate our anniversary and could not have picked a better beach destination! The property itself is located in an ideal location with a pristine beach and crystal clear ocean views. Our spacious suite came complete with a deck and plunge pool. We also enjoyed yoga classes on the third floor deck and a couples massage at the luxurious spa. As beautiful as the resort is, the overall service was even better as the entire staff was laser focused on ensuring that we had an amazing experience. Special shout outs to Angie, Mitzi and Laura from the first-class front desk crew and Luisa, Jair and Lovelee at the Alera restaurant. It was so sad to leave and we are already planning our return visit!
