The Hideaway Hotel

This is a small boutique hotel at the southern end of Playa Samara. The rooms are large with nice seating areas and an outdoor patio. It’s 2 minutes away from the beach and the hotel loan you beach chairs, umbrellas and towels to take to the beach. We loved that it was so unspoiled and quiet at that end of the beach. It was like being on a deserted tropical island! They serve an excellent breakfast every day and we also ate in the restaurant on 3 evenings. We especially enjoyed their dips. You can walk via the beach or road to Samara but in the evening you would have to get a taxi back as neither route would be safe after dark

This was my second trip to Costa Rica, I chose to stay in the Samara area. I had an exceptional experience at The Hideaway Hotel, in Samara Costa Rica. I usually opt for all-inclusive resorts. This time I chose a regular hotel and was thoroughly impressed. Despite not paying top dollars, the experience was wonderful. I highly recommend it to everyone. The owner, Nick, front desk Maria, Bryan, the chefs and several other helper that I missed their names, they are such lovely individuals. You will be extremely happy if your stay in this hotel. Thank and I will back again.

One of the best vacations we have had. The hotel is lovely, the value at this price point is high, and the staff are amazing! This small 12 unit hotel offers peace, quiet, and feels like home. With breakfast included, the restaurant provides everything needed, and they make a mean Pińa Colada, blended lemonade and amazing smoothies! We stayed for 3 weeks and the entire time it felt like we were spending time with family. A pool that is just the size, and enough shade to stay cool, and enough sun if you want to work on that tan! The hotel iguana was there every day to greet us, and then there are the monkeys! Wow the monkeys! Every few days would be in the surrounding trees, minding their own business, but putting on a lovely display of their abilities. Many birds to see as well, if you are a birder you can purchase a great book in Samara to help you identify the wide variety here (either in spanish or english). The ocean is close, just at 1 minute walk to Samara Beach, and about 30 -45 min walk into the town of Samara. But you get two beaches!! It is a quick 5-10 minute walk south to Playa Carrillo. Love this beach! I suggest you try to take in the sunset there! It is amazing!!!

Wonderful stay in intimate local hotel - Rooms very spacious & clean, and all you could want (lots of clothes storage, great bathroom, comfortable bed, etc.). Staff wonderful - Bryan answered all questions, & staff solved problems in no time flat. Amazing for a small-scale set-up. Lush, quiet (need a car) location in-between Samara & Playa Carrillo - green space around - saw more monkeys than anywhere else. Easy walk down gentle sloping dirt road to beach (5-10 min). Nice pool, decent breakfast. Overall good value, and pleasant.

We were at the Hideaway for two nights. The room was very spacious and very clean. Bathroom was very large, very clean, well appointed, and had a very nice shower. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was great. The pool is large and clean. Drinks are always available around the pool. Howler monkeys make occasional visits, but weren’t bothersome. Carillo beach (one of the nicest beaches anywhere!) is right nearby. All in all, a great place to stay. Highly recommended.

The grounds were beautiful. All the employees were so nice, when we checked, the gentlemen gave us a review of things in the area. The food was great, we had breakfast and dinner there. Our room had a great view of the grounds.

Discovered it when we walked from Samara Beach to the south end across from Isla Chora. On the way back we walked the path out to the highway to catch the bus and saw the Hideaway Hotel. We stopped in and had smoothies. Had a nice chat with Brian…he gave us info on kayaking to Isla Chora. We went back the following week for lunch after we did our kayak & snorkel adventure. We had a delicious lunch and the service was good. We had smoothies, pizza and a platter of avocado salad. The hotel is very close to the main road yet in a very private setting. I would stay there…it looks like a nice place to stay.

The Hideaway was an excellent experience in every way. Great location with a very short, easy walk to the beach. Wonderful pool area and excellent food in the hotel restaurant. Delicious creative cocktails. Customer service was above and beyond, consistently and with each staff member. We traveled with another couple and all four of us are seasoned travelers, and the Hideaway stood out as one of the very best hotels we have enjoyed.

Just a great experience. Walk to Samara beach. Short drive to other beaches. Great rooms, staff was awesome, and priced right. Good choice in Samara. Breakfast was excellent. Lunch as well. Pool very clean. Very helpful front desk. A great choice and you will not be disappointed at all.
