Premier Inn Newquay (Quintrell Downs)

You know what you are getting with a premier inn. It was fine however a few things let it down. We booked a family room, we tried to ring the hotel to ensure we could have a cot in the room for our 2 year old daughter, however no one ever answers the phone at this premier inn it seems. No matter we asked at reception when. We checked in, the receptionist didn’t apologise for no one answering, she just said oh yeah it’s a big problem as some staff just don’t answer phones. However she said she would sort out getting a cot in our room whilst we went out that evening. We got back around 9pm to find no cot, we walked down to reception (no phones in rooms), and they said they had none left. So we ended up not sleeping much as our daughter had to be repositioned all night as she kept almost rolling off the bed. We have an electric car, the car park doesn’t have charging facilities, this isn’t a major issue but you’d have expected at least one charging bay with a charge point.

No furniture to sit on?! And a perpetual humming coming from outside! When I spoke to reception all I got was “that some rooms have had stuff sent back but the new stuff has not arrived yet” not at all helpful when all I wanted to do was to sit and watch a bit of tv! The response to my mentioning the humming was just as helpful “ I will mention it in the morning” ye truly helpful? So no where to sit and a disturbed night sleep. As a regular visitor mainly paid for by work this was not the standard I had told my wife to expect, she more than me was utterly disappointed.

room was very good as always, the staff was jolly and helpful and one out who works to the highest of standards (Kathy) the breakfast lady was amazing, friendly, helpful, efficient, and in need of a personal review. she is a credit to the company. This is the third visit to this hotel. every time the same results (oct 23 last year + one more)

Septa yes her at Easter for 4 nights. The inn was noisy with a large family with children running around. The staff were very accommodating and spoke to them. Our room was clean but it had a frosted window which meant there was no daylight. The car park was busy but you could park for free. The location is good and away from the town centre. We explored all over cornwall from here. There was no wifi at all which was a pain.

We had a short stay in this premier inn, We had a late arrival (approx 8.30pm) and had booked a table in the restaurant at 9pm as we had been travelling for 6 hours. The restaurant called and cancelled our meal 2 hours before arrival which was really disappointing. We checked in and made the receptionist aware who looked slightly confused as to why our meal was cancelled and said we could just order a takeaway!! We had a drink in the bar which closed at 10pm, we felt a bit uncomfortable an unwelcome as the staff were turning off lights and TV’s in the bar around us so we went back to the room. The room was a bit tired, smelt a bit grubby and the bathroom didn’t smell much better. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good the waitress was great and very friendly however I think they could have done with another body working as the drinks didn’t get refilled and a lot of the continental breakfast items didn’t get replenished. There was no one on reception when we checked out at 10.30am to discuss this with so we left the key on reception and carried on our journey.

There is work going on Last week no heating and loads of noise they said it would be finished Back this week still working in the roof No information on the premier inn web site about on going work and we are night workers so not much change of getting sleep from 09:00

Had a one night stay due to staying at a caravan for a week so arrived a day early had a lovely stay in the hotel the meal deal is a must the bed was very convenient after a long journey

Rooms as expected for a Premier inn. The restaurant, the food was faultless, the service was exceptional. I don't say that lightly. Overall it suited our needs and was more than adequate as a hotel base. Clean rooms and pleasant staff, absolutely nothing you could complain about.

Having tried unsuccessfully on two occasions to telephone Reception to ask them to set up a trundle bed as twin beds not available I arrived and , despite somewhat grumpy manager, the room was set up as needed by dividing the double bed. (One star lost for non smiling interaction and one star for online software booking issue where it states no twins are available for accessible rooms at the hotel). Apart from this, the hotel is clean and provides comfortable accommodation.The cleaning team were friendly and did a good job. I found the doors difficult to open to access with my mother in a wheelchair and I would think a solo travel in a wheelchair would have to ask for assistance. The parking and access from outside is good. Tabletable restaurant attached (and accessible from within hotel) was brilliant. The team - particularly Steve and Kathy - were courteous and friendly and the full English breakfast was good value. I would stay again and hope for a more welcoming Front of House.
