Ella Retreat

One of our best stays on Sri Lanka! Stuff amazing, they offering free pick up and drop off for check in and check out. Owners will do everything for you to make your holidays easy and smooth! We asked for tuk tuk for round trip, they found best price for us, we asked about taxi to Yala - they found the best price for us. Anything we need they helped with! And you are in the middle of forest, no rush, just trees, monkeys and few other animals. Really nice stay we enjoyed and would recommend to everybody. Thank you again for everything you did for us.

Ella retreat is the perfect oasis sat on top of a hill away from the noise and crowds of Ella but only a 10 minute tuk tuk drive into town, I read here it took someone 30 minutes but that wasn’t the case for us the owner arranged transport whenever we asked within 10 minutes super easy. We could do loads of walks and see waterfalls without the crowds just below the accommodation. The food is brilliant home cooked and huge portions. The staff couldn’t be more kind and helpful, working so hard, and the cookery class is an excellent authentic experience definitely to be done! The yoga is also super with rawan private classes next to a waterfall - idyllic!

Set in beautiful surroundings, up a mountain, you’re surrounded by trees and sounds of a waterfall. Cottage is really cute and service was great, very friendly. Breakfast was also nice and generous amounts. The hot water didn’t work when I was there but I’m sure they fixed it. Note that this is the perfect place if you really want to avoid the crowds in Ella, because it is about 20-30min tuktuk ride away. Otherwise, the distance gets a bit expensive and irritating if you need to keep getting into town (for food etc).

A very special, lovely place in the middle of nature. Host was very friendly and helpful. Many activities possible in the area such as hiking, yoga, cooking classes. Host is offering a tuktuk shuttle service from/to Ella town. We really enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to anyone who likes to stay a bit outside the busy streets of Ella town.

I went on the 6 days yoga retreat in the glamping tent. Beautiful view. I could hear and see the waterfall from my tent. The tent is on a platform from where you can enjoy meals or yoga session. Bathroom is next to the tent, and both tent and bathroom are very luxurious. It's a good place to find piece and fresh air. Be aware that it's also colder, because it's up in the mountain, so it's a good idea to bring a sweater. Staff is very helpful, and yoga teacher is very professional.

Everything was amazing! Very nice place and accimindation in nature with a waterfull nearby. The hosts were extremly responsive and helped us with every request and wish! We can recommend this peacefull place ! :-) thanks a lot for taking so much care of us!

This was a wonderful escape for 4 days. Definitely recommend staying slightly outside of ella itself; there are plenty of tuktuks to get into town when you need and the location of Ella Retreat was wonderfully peaceful. Owner / manager was extremely attentive and communicative, and made us feel extremely welcome. The cottage itself was beautiful, beautifully designed and much more luxurious than we were expecting. Breakfast was served on the balcony and the fresh fruit was a lovely way to start the day. We also had dinner one evening and the chef was so lovely. She cooked up a feast for us! The location is great but worth noting that the road is very difficult, so a car would really struggle to get up there.

Wir verbrachten drei Nächte in dem liebevoll im Bohostyle gestalteten Cottage des Ella Retreat. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich, bemüht und zuvorkommend. Auch organisierten sie uns ein Taxi für die Weiterfahrt zu einem fairen Preis. Aufgrund der Sprachbarriere kam es zu kleineren Missverständnissen, welche sich jedoch immer klären liesen. Good to know: Moskitospray einpacken! Hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit. Besonders empfehlenswert ist das Cottage für Personen die Ruhe in der Natur suchen. Auch kann man tagsüber toll Affen beobachten. Es gibt auch Angebote wie Yoga oder Massagen. Das Ella Retreat ist ein gutes Stück außerhalb von Ella Town und auf einem Berg gelegen. Sandaru unser Tuk Tuk Fahrer des Vertrauens holte uns jedoch zu jeder Zeit ab, machte sogar eine private Tour mit uns zu einem tollen Wasserfall und den örtlichen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Auch in der Nähe des Ella Retreat ist ein Wasserfall, welcher fußläufig erreichbar ist. Der Weg dort hin ist zwar kurz aber nach Regen sehr matschig und rutschig (nicht ungefährlich). Alles in Allem fanden wir das Ella Retreat sehr entschleunigend und optisch ansprechend. Freut euch auf eine besondere Übernachtungsmöglichkeit :)
