Lightner Farmhouse B&B

I can’t say enough about my stay. The owners are so friendly, and accommodating. They went out of their way for us, arranging a private battle field tour, with an outstanding guide. We booked the entire inn for our group trip and absolutely loved everything about this place. The property is beautiful, it’s located within 3 miles of downtown Gettysburg, and the breakfast selections were fantastic!

We very much enjoyed our stay. This is a building built before the Civil War; it is rustic in a good way, and historic. It is in a beautiful setting, near the battlefield sites. The owners obviously enjoy what they do. We enjoyed interacting with them as well as other guests. We were comfortable, and the breakfasts were great.

Myself and my partner checked out of the fantastic Lightner Farmhouse this morning after a fabulous 3 night stay. The property is immaculately kept and with its history, a real step back in time. Each room is themed on people of significance of the Gettysburg battle and the attention to detail is fantastic. The inn keepers Steve and Theresa were excellent hosts and make everybody feel welcome. We had many conversations over Theresa's outstanding breakfasts with Steve sharing his extensive knowledge of not just Gettysburg but also other battles of that time around the country. It goes without saying if we ever visit the area again we would definitely stay at The Lightner Farmhouse and would recommend to anybody thinking of doing so. Beautiful grounds, well appointed rooms, amazing breakfast (I'm still dreaming about the muffins), and excellent conversations make this location a must-stay in Gettysburg. We went for our mini moon and could not recommend it more highly. Very personalized touches from allergies to tour guides who knew all about my husbands history. We plan to go back very soon!!

Teresa and Steve are awesome Inn keepers, the room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast that Teresa makes every morning is so unbelievably great that it is amazing. They are very knowledgeable on the area and restaurants and can arrange a private tour with a licensed battle field guide for you which is cheaper then the bus tours and it is just your party and the guide in your vehicle. We had Denny and he was great he knew everything about the battle and takes you to all the main spots or what ever you want to see,but we were told that the private tours fill up fast so if you are going to go I would call and talk to Steve at the BnB and see if he can arrange it for you. We will definitely be going back to the Lightner Farmhouse on our next trip to Gettysburg.

You feel like you stepped back into 1863 when you arrive at this beautiful home! The outside is gorgeous and the inside is warm and inviting and decorated perfectly! I traveled with my mom and sister for a girl's weekend away and the 3rd floor suit is perfect or 3 or 4 people! Teresa cooks the morning breakfast that is to die for and Steve wastes no time making sure to give you all the historical facts he possibly can. Steve and Teresa are very accommodating and even turned up the heat for us when we were chilly. The entire grounds inside and outside are spotless and the inside of the home is decorated so beautifully. Steve gave us good tips on places to eat. We now plan to make this a yearly tradition and hope to return in the Fall. You will not regret booking this historically escape!

This is a first rate B&B in a farmhouse once used as a Union Army hospital. Accommodations and hospitality are five star. Breakfasts were delicious with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. We much enjoyed the conversations with Steve on Civil War history. The house is full of African wildlife art which I loved.

The first night the room was too hot because we did not not think about turning the heater off. I found the bed to be uncomfortable and had trouble sleeping. The hospitality was wonderful and breakfast was great. We learned a lot of Civil war history. We were surprised to find that the other couple staying there was from our hometown also.

We had such an amazing time at the Lightner Farmhouse. Steve and Teresa were such amazing hosts, and the breakfast was so tasty! When we are back in Gettysburg, we will definitely be staying here. 10/10 experience!
