The Collingwood Guest House

Mis- sold a trip to this place- Zero facilities and one shared bathroom between the entire house. No kitchen available here. Initially offered a camp bed to sleep on- left the hotel the same evening rather than stay here. No sink in the room- 1 towel and 1 mug for two and electrical items not PAT tested. Avoid this place.

Absolute disgraceful! Booked via a 2 night stay in May for September! Drove 4 hours to get there for check in after 3pm as stated to be told couldn’t check in until 6pm. Went back at 6pm to be told that because we booked via a buyagift that our rooms were cancelled in March! How was it cancelled in March when I didn’t even book until May? Apparently the room advertised isn’t the room you get but that room is still being advertised now! So we were stuck miles away from home with no where to stay and still false advertising! So we are now £70 out of pocket for a room we had to pay for that no one will reimburse me for the money we had to spend! No communication from the hotel or company and now out of pocket! Joke

Great stay at The Collingwood Guest House, Nice room,Very clean and tidy, with all the necessary. Perfect location, the guest house is literally few meters from the beach. Great breakfast and very nice and helpful host ! Can't complain at all ,I would highly recommended. Thank you for our lovely stay!

The waiters are very enthusiastic, and the room attendants are very timely when they come to the room to deal with the problem. The hygiene is also very clean. The hotel environment is good, the room supplies are complete, the towels and quilts are also very clean, and it is very safe to stay.

sleep very well, clean and comfortable bed. there is new tv in room. collingwood is nearby pub and beach. amazing location. also, collingwood close to many restaurants. I definitely will come again.

We arrived at the guesthouse early and phoned the owners/staff on arrival. They were very helpful and sorted the parking for the street outside the guesthouse. We were upgraded due to repairs being carried out in one of our originally booked rooms. The customer service was excellent and is everything you would expect from a guesthouse. In terms of the accommodation and cleanliness we found it to be very good. The room was clean and well furnished. We benefitted from a nice balcony which was small however offered just that extra little aspect to the room. Upon checking out we asked to extend the parking which was done and any other questions we had were dealt with quickly. The location of the guesthouse is great and is right by the seafront next to bars/restaurants and the beach.

Beware! We booked one night's stay for two rooms a month in advance but received an email through *********** at almost 11.00pm the night before our stay to say that the hotel were unable to accommodate us and that the booking was cancelled. Not impressed!

This hotel was booked for my partner and myself for a birthday treat after a very difficult year. We chose this hotel as the reviews were good and our usual hotel was fully booked. We also checked out the facilities on line and it appeared to tick all the boxes. Firstly I cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel or the room. Photos will be attached. On arrival we checked in and paid for parking. (States it’s free private parking in ***********) this isn’t the case it’s street parking in Zone A this covers various roads In the vicinity on a first come first serve basis. (£3 a day). On line it states free complimentary drink on arrival, nothing offered. We were also asked if we wanted breakfast £7.50 a day ( states it’s included on line) Our room booked was a Deluxe. We had room 1 on the lower level past the lobby next to the dining room, right next to the stairs. The room was impeccably clean. However unfortunately this is the only positive. The room was described as with either a city view or seafront view. Nope just some stairs. The bed stated it was double. It didn’t fit 2 pillows side by side. It said a desk in the room (I had some work to do) no desk. 3 mirrors in the room all of no use. I’m 5 foot 3 and my partner 5 foot 7. I had to kneel down and my partner in tip toes. The bathroom was new and very clean. The mirror in the barhroom a round one with shelves across again too high for any use and nowhere for a toiletry bag etc. 2 chairs in the room very low more like childrens and no use for using if you had work to do. I ok not plug sockets in the room either under the window or behind the headboard and behind the television. Only 2 channels working on the TV. A safe was available to secure valuables however this was not securely attached and could be moved around the room. No wardrobe just a rail attached to the wall. Overall disappointed with our stay and wouldn’t recommend or stay again. Think twice about the parking as if you go out this car you could end up driving around for nearly an hour to find another place. We couldn’t raise any issues as during our stay we saw NO members of staff.

Absolutely awful experience. First of all the sink wasn’t in the bathroom which we thought was very odd as it was opposite to our bed. Then we found the bin in one of our rooms was not emptied. Hair had also been found in one of the beds and there was no lock on the bathroom door ! We really felt there was just a lack of effort put into the accommodation. Also very noisy at early hours in the morning hence the complimentary earplugs. However there was a great balcony with good sea views.
