The Knaresborough Inn - the Inn Collection Group

We were allocated a disabled room, although we certainly didn’t book this, a room designated for disabled is not suitable for able bodied, especially in the bathroom where sinks etc are at the wrong height. The bathroom was missing a “plug” in the sink, which meant you constantly ran water. Evening meal was good, when it eventually arrived and disappointed with buffet breakfast.

Main hotel was a lovely old building. We were in the annex behind the main building. Our room was well decorated, very clean & quiet. We enjoyed our evening ‘pub grub’ dinner. Bottle of wine quite expensive.

Stayed for four nights. The staff were very attentive & nothing was too much trouble. We only had one evening meal during our stay & that was 1st class, the food we saw other people eating looked excellent. Breakfast was excellent every morning, we will definitely return to this little gem😁

I wonder if all the one night guests are in rooms surrounding the car park. We were in a ground floor room, basic but clean, directly accessible from the car park. The lady receptionist who allowed us to park and then wander into town until check in at 3pm, was very friendly and helpful with directions. Unfortunately when we arrived back at 3pm we encountered a man who continued to talk to his colleague. When he asked for my name, he then presumed to use my first name and then shortened it (Tracy to Trace) hmm. Then whilst looking at my email booking ref, he answered the telephone, said I won’t keep you a minute (I thought he was talking to the person on the phone) no he was talking to me without looking at me and went on to try to arrange a table booking for the restaurant hmm yet again. My husband by this time had gone to sit down. I found his attitude strange for a hotel receptionist in these days of instant reviews. Can’t imagine what visitors from overseas would make of his attitude. After receiving my key card he explained we went back out into the car park and entered our room through a door between two parked cars (not ours🤣). The room was small, I had to draw the curtain to stop seeing people milling around the cars and entrance area. The surfaces were spotless and the bathroom gleaming. One thing I did notice was a covered tissue box on the dressing table, very useful however it was empty. If it had been removed, I wouldn’t have mentioned this in the review. Good night’s sleep on a comfortable mattress and a large bed. The breakfast next morning was all buffet style. My husband thought this wonderful 😋. I had informed the hotel weeks in advance and at early check in online of my Gluten Intolerance and that I would require a GF breakfast. The waitress checked what I could eat on the hot plate and said they only had GF bread. I found this very strange for an impressive hotel like this. On a cheap and cheerful coach trip staying at a two* hotel on the Isle of Wight I was offered GF cornflakes and GF sausages, non of which was available at the Knaresborough Inn. Ho hum, it seems that the more you pay the less you get here. I think they’ve gone for style over substance. I think we’ll still visit again though, maybe ask for a garden room away from the road and stay a few more days. See what I can do about breakfast GF items etc. A good hotel really close to town and things to visit ie Mother Shipton’s Cave, Harrogate and surrounding areas.

We stayed at the Knaresborough Inn for the night with friends. The location of the hotel is central to both the town centre and the riverside walk and has good parking facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our rooms were well maintained and very spacious. The food was fine (pub grub) but nothing special. We would definitely recommend the hotel and others in the Inn Collection Group, as the hotels are all maintained to a similar standard, good value for money.

What a great place. We stayed here as a stopover on our way to London. We stayed in the Dowager Cottage - which is a separate cottage to the main building and was spacious and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were superb / great pub food - highly recommend the ‘toad in the hole’. Cute and quaint.

Room 103 was immaculate - spacious, clean, tidy and very well presented - faultless. Overall the pub style atmosphere was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Staff very helpful, though some of the younger ones should stop chewing gum when looking after customers! We liked the idea of getting a drinks voucher for skipping room clean up on the Monday night!

The room was adequate, a compact double.The young man at check-in was friendly. The evening meal in the bar was poor . A burnt “ Toad in the Hole “and overdone , dry scampi and chips. Why serve food like that? Instead of having the room serviced guests are offered a drinks voucher for two drinks from the bar. I opted for the voucher and later ordered our two drinks , single measures , nothing out of the ordinary. On presenting my voucher I was told I would have to pay for the drinks as I was only entitled to have beer or wine with the voucher . I advised I had not been made aware of this when I opted for the voucher, nor did the voucher state any limitations on drinks. The response was , like the food, poor . I was told, by the bar staff and young woman on reception, their policy re. drinks voucher had changed a month ago . While this was of interest to them , as a customer , I did not need to know about policy changes . I should have been advised , prior to making a choice re. room serviced or not , on the limitations of the offer. It should also be printed on the voucher. Then I could have made an informed decision . Given the circumstances I would have expected the staff to honour the voucher as it was presented. But they obviously preferred not to and to pour the two drinks down the drain. Too silly. Extremely poor customer service .

Stayed for 1 night. The room, dinner and breakfast were superb. The service from all the staff was fantastic.
