We enjoyed our 3 night stay here in September. The place is actually a time-share facility - not a true hotel. No worries though - the staff were nice and the amenities more than adequate. They even had a scavenger hunt for kids (both young and old). Nice pools area and fitness room.

Upon our arrival, we were immediately impressed when were able to check in well before the "written-in-stone" 4:00 check-in time. We were flabbergasted, for sure, as all the Marriott Vacation Club sites that we have visited have usually strictly adhered to that required 4:00 check-in time. We were quite pleased with our suite........enjoyed the two fireplaces in it. We found it to be very quiet, for the most part, too. Everything was well-cleaned and in proper working order. We were a bit disappointed that we had no washer/dryer combo in the room, but we were aware of that before we had booked. (We found the Laundry Room very easily and had the whole place to ourselves the morning we used it.) Many provided amenities/activities available....including a beautiful pool, Fitness Center, miniature golf, bungie trampoline, etc. The staff was friendly and very helpful in answering questions and recommending restaurant options, etc. The valet staff did an AMAZING job with dealing with the never-ending incoming/outgoing vehicles. A terrific location too! We were able to walk to most shops and restaurants during our stay. Hope to return here in the future!

Stayed here so many times, but this is definitely the last one!!! Last visit - valet lost our car keys , found the 4th days of our stay, which was our last day. Missed a very important meeting. No apology at all! Just checked in (studio for the two of us), walked into our room and walked out after 5 min. The room had a horrible “death mouse” smell , whatever it was. We called the front desk immediately and were told to wait in the room , a key will be brought for the next door room. After 10 min, the receptionist called and said we need to walk all the way back to another building to pick up the key with our entire luggage. On top of everything, the keys were not activated, we had ti go back to to the front desk to be informed that the wrong keys were given. The room/studio should be given a 2-star rating. It is disgustingly dirty and uncomfortable, with a small, extremely soft mattress. Unfortunately, we could not cancel the room either, it was against the cancellation policy, nor we could get an upgrade, the last min booking price was outrageous. Very disappointed!

I would say it's closer to a 3.5. While the hotel is beautiful and the staff are friendly there are some things that were disappointing. As a Marriott vacation club owner I was surprised and disappointed that there weren't washers and dryers in the room. I was also disappointed that the bed wasn't a king size. The door to the balcony was difficult to use and the street below was rather loud. The kitchen was nice and I liked having a fireplace in the room. The bathroom was a large size but the tub was HUGE and not necessary in my opinion. The valet parking was not ideal but was glad that we did not have to pay for it.

My favorite place to stay in South Lake Tahoe. Comfortable and central to most things my husband and I like to do. Staff is friendly and personable. The pool is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery and sounds.

The Grand Residence has a warm and friendly feel, less hectic and more intimate than the Timber Lodge. Wonderful connecting rooms an plenty of room at the pool. Nice work out rooms and Van Sickle park is practically right outside the door. Staff are wonderful.

I noticed a yellow stain on our sheet—clearly the sheets were not washed well. I called the front desk requesting a new set of sheets at 8 pm. It took them an hour to bring us a new set of sheets. They brought queen instead of king. Then I called the front desk and requested them to bring king fitted sheet. After a whole day of skiing, we were ready to go to sleep. I called multiple time in the next hour and was told they were going to ask housekeeping to bring it. Then finally at quarter past ten, I called in an angry voice where our sheet was, and the front desk clerk hang up on me. Then another person called back and I told him, we have been waiting for two and half ours for one king fitted sheet and when were they going to bring it by. We were exhausted. Finally the sheet arrived. This has been the worst hospitality experience of my life. So disappointed in Marriott. I have been thinking about signing up for Marriott timeshare because of how convenient the location is to gondola and decent room layouts etc, but the management is terrible. Will not stay here again.

As longtime Vacation Club members, we were somewhat disappointed by our first visit to Marriott Grand Residence. Pros and cons of the experience: - Our rooms weren't ready at the 4 pm check-in time - Our 2-bedroom villa (rooms 369/371/373) was located on an inside corner which meant that our main room didn't have a balcony, only a small window, which made the room feel dark & rather gloomy. - The hotel is located in downtown which is great for walking to dinner, shopping, and right next to the Heavenly Gondola. -With the restaurants so close by, the hallway to our rooms had a constant hamburger smell (but not our actual room) -Parking is via valet-only. This is not mentioned on the Vacation Club booking website. While I wasn't charged the $35/day fee (presumably because we are owners), I would have appreciated knowing this ahead of time. While the valets were hustling, there was one day with a backup that almost caused us to lose our prepaid kayaking reservation. Other visitors frequently clogged up the valet circle arranging their vehicles with canoes/bikes/jet-skis. - Getting a chair around the pool during the weekend is difficult. The area is beautiful, but small and there was an area roped off without lounges. There are 3 grills available with grilling tools which made for a nice dining experience at the poolside tables. -Van Sickle Bi-state park is just a short walk away for hiking.

Platinum member. We were in 2175 and 2177 joint rooms and stayed with points and points upgrade. The only platinum benefit was they were willing to offer late check out 12:00 instead of 11:00 (I was told to ask for the late check out at the day of the check out). Pros Big clean and comfy rooms with a full kitchen. The location is as close as you can get to the Gondola and with many restaurants in walking distance since it is the center of the village. The staff was always smiling and wanted to help with a shout-out to Nate from the Vallet services who made it a 5+ stay. We came with an oversized vehicle and as it could not fit into the underground garage Nate asked for our schedule during the stay, laid out the alternatives, and helped us to find the best option that suited our specific needs, all with a smile. While the hotel is not new it is very well-kept and in great condition. Cons - For families, if the price is identical I would stay in the sister property (Timber Lodge) as they have the same amenities plus a kids club that has some activities. Overall great stay

Absolutely loved the hotel and the wonderful room or should I say the huge apartment we ended up in. Every little detail was considered in the kitchen and bathrooms, from free washing powder (there’s a free laundry room with driers to) to lots of lovely bits washing bits in the bathroom. Location is ideal and very central, I am keen to go back toski during the winter season and I would definitely be staying at Marriott grand. Lake Tahoe in general was lovely although I was disappointed at the lack of access to beach areas around the lake, they are either private or owned by the hotels.

The photos match the reality -- it is a nice-looking establishment. Your eyes won't necessarily be disappointed; however, other parts of your body may be. The bed -- which is the primary reason I rent hotel rooms -- was an inner-spring kind in which you could sense the inner springs. The pillows were more like fillers for shams being plumped to the max. In an effort to find a comfortable spot, we unfolded the sofabed only to find this to be about the same level of comfort.

The area is under extensive construction. This is not listed on their website nor will staff tell you when calling or at check in. Their construction starts at 6am. Crane operation, generators, drills, heavy machinery equipment all gets fired up at 6am. Caution tape is haphazardly strewn around the hotel and grounds. The experience was made worse by impolite and uncaring staff who appear genuinely shocked if you mention construction, with their response being, “the construction is not part of the hotel.” The construction was 50-75 feet from our hotel room, our windows were vibrating. While not in the hotel lobby it is steps from lobby building and all around on hotel grounds. Multiple different construction projects going on at one time. The noise was so loud, an 8am business call had to be rescheduled as it could not be had in the hotel room due to extremely loud construction noises. If you are staying to get sleep or will need to get any work done while on their property avoid this hotel. Another important mention- if you are handicapped or need assistance at valet loading and unloading be prepared to do it yourself. A bell hop however did point in the direction of a bell hop cart, thanks guy, we apologized as we were interrupting an important conversation involving YouTube clips with valet staff. We had the same issue checking in as front desk staff also visibly annoyed we were checking in, we apologized for interrupting that conversation as well. There are many other hotels around Heavenly and many other great ski resorts around Tahoe with friendly and polite staff that are not under construction. We will not stay at this hotel again (sorry Heavenly, we’ll be at Northstar, the Marriott staff there is fantastic as well as Hyatt). The poor customer service, disorganized staff and hazardous construction on property is unreflective of our usual Marriott experiences and their brands, but appears to be normal operation for this hotel. I’m sympathetic to the nationwide shortage of people wanting to work and shortages it creates. I am not sympathetic to rude and disrespectful staff and bilking customers out of money. I am even going to to further say the hotel purposefully not informing customers of heavy construction is dabbling in fraud. I would have never paid for a room knowing the campus is under construction. Their dishonesty affected my sleep and work. All around a poor experience. I am expecting a rude response from this hotel in response to sharing our experience, as I believe it will be on par and reflective of the customer service they provide and we experienced.

Our King guest room lacked typical Marriott features. No mini fridge. Only one small trash can. Coffee pot is a full pot, not individual cups. Ice machines can be a long distance from room. Valet parking is inconvenient. No sundries shop. This hotel is NOT related to the Marriott Residence Inn. Location is great so no issues there. Staff is friendly. However, a few things you take for granted elsewhere don’t exist here, or at least in the room we selected, so study your room’s amenities before booking it.

I took my 80 year old parents with me to see my brother who lives in Tahoe. The villa was amazing! Had plenty of room for everyone and the location at the state line was fantastic! Housekeeping service was also 5 star!
